I am an international development professional, working on sustainable development initiatives in Latin America with an international organization. I also have a passion for education and have six years of tutoring experience working with students on subjects ranging from test preparation (PSAT, SAT, SAT II, AP, ACT) to Spanish language to college admissions. I am a life-long proponent of education and learning. I graduated from Princeton University with a B.A. in philosophy. After working for a few years, including in book publishing, I returned to school and completed my M.A. in history at the University of California, Berkeley. While there, I taught history and philosophy classes to undergraduates. I also taught Standardized Test Prep (SAT and GRE) for Summit Tutors and Kaplan.I took a break from school and moved to Europe (Germany). I loved it so much that I decided to continue my education on that side of the Atlantic.In fact, I completed my PhD in history from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland in 2015. As you can see, I practice what I preach about education :)While I tutor a number of subjects, I am most passionate about helping students learn how to improve their reading (Literature) and writing (English), as well as their historical knowledge (History). I also have a good track record helping students dramatically improve their SAT scores and their college application essays.In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, cooking (a new hobby), going to movies, and seeing live music. I love watching the World Cup and Euro soccer tournaments as well.

I’m a proud alumna of Macalester College where I graduated with a degree in English and a prospective student of Princeton Theological Seminary where I hope to pursue graduate degrees in Divinity and Youth Ministry. I have extensive experience tutoring and teaching English in a variety of settings: college classrooms, private homes, churches, SAT schools, and even abroad in places like Cuba and China. I am most comfortable teaching the SAT Reading/Writing and helping youths with their personal statements. Furthermore, my one-year experience as an AmeriCorps VISTA for PeaceJam Foundation – an award-winning organization that promotes service learning and peacekeeping through the combined efforts of Nobel Peace Laureates and young people – has instilled in me a deep reverence and hope for our youths today. I strongly believe in our youths’ limitless potential to pursue their dreams and become agents of positive social change and know I will be an excellent mentor/coach through their journey.

My passion is writing, particularly academic papers. While most of my classmates dreaded writing papers, I relished it. I have a bachelors degree in English and a masters in business administration (MBA). My favorite subjects are gothic literature followed by marketing. I would love to help students with their writing no matter what subject!

As a father, my children's education was incredibly important to me. Due to the below average school system where we lived, I decided to home school the both of them. Being involved with their education, and the education of a co-opt of other children was the most rewarding task I have ever undertaken. I understand the importance of truly engaging students, of understanding the various styles of learning for each individual, and acting not only as a teacher, but as a mentor. The true goal is to not only teach the student the materials in front of them but to engender a life-long love of learning. Teaching and polishing writing, from a beginning level to college is a specialty of mine, but I enjoy sharing and teaching all subjects to any ages.

I will be attending the same institution for my Ph.D. in Criminology, Law, and Society beginning in the Fall. I have done research in the fields of wrongful conviction, eyewitness misidentification, jury selection, and the CSI effect. I am well-versed in everything related to college admissions, from essay writing and editing to standardized testing. I am also proficient in English, and grammar is my specialty. Outside of academics, I enjoy creating digital art, listening to music, and caring for my houseplants.

I am at senior at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. I am majoring in Psychology and Special Education. I am a flexible team player who thrives in environments requiring ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple concurrent projects. I am an exceptional listener and communicator who effectively conveys information verbally and in writing. I am a computer-literate performer with excellent software proficiency.I am highly organized, dedicated, and committed to professionalism. At first I was helping him with simple math as a junior, however next I was helping him craft college essays. He was accepted to many schools with comments regarding his personal essay. This not only made him ecstatic, but also allowed me to realize that I actually have the ability to make large differences in students' lives.
