I've been interested in teaching and tutoring since I was a teaching assistant in graduate school. While in grad school, I taught courses in statistics, political science, and history. My degree was in political science with a focus on statistical analysis, and I am now training to be a data scientist. For me it's a really fun challenge learning how a student sees a concept and how I can guide them to expand their understanding of it. Seeing a concept "click" with a student is one of the most rewarding feelings.

Hi! I'm Vinitha. I have a B.S. in Biology from UC San Diego and a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from UC Berkeley. I am passionate about helping students reach their full potential and recognize that students have diverse needs in the classroom. I am excited to help you achieve your academic goals!
I am a 2nd year Doctor of Pharmacy student at Midwestern University. I am originally from California, but live in Arizona because I am attending school. I have accumulated about 5 years worth of tutoring experience from private tutoring, classroom teaching, and after-school programs where I used to work. My favorite subjects are math/science and I have tutored algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, statistics, and SAT math in the past. My goal for my students is for them to understand and appreciate the material so that they will be interested and want to learn on their own. I teach my students what it takes to succeed and give them confidence in their own abilities to achieve these goals. I live a very busy life with lots of things to manage, so you may wonder why I spend time tutoring. I enjoy tutoring and by sharing my knowledge and experiences with my students, it is just one way for me to give back to the community.
Recent graduate from UCSD with a B.S. in Clinical Psychology. Currently tutoring and writing a book while I prepare to apply for PhD programs in clinical psychology.
Hi, I am a Ucsd physics major and have plenty of experience working with children between being a tutor and having worked in childcare. I love both learning and teaching so I am very excited for these tutoring opportunities! My philosophy has a lot to do with bringing the subject matter to life for the student and making sure they gain enthusiasm and confidence with the subject as they learn and work through the material. The specific needs for every student of course change because every one has unique learning capabilities and different ways of approaching and understanding the subject.
I am a graduate of UC San Diego with a Bachelors in Neuroscience through the Psychology department. After graduating, I went to Michigan Technological University and did some graduate work, before moving to Texas to be closer to my parents. I did my alternative certification program through Texas Teachers and am highly qualified to teach Science for grades 7-12. I have been a teacher in public and charter schools for the last four years, and have tutoring experience extending over ten years behind me as well.I am most passionate about teaching because I love seeing people learn, grow, and become problem solvers and leaders of the future. It's hugely rewarding for me whenever someone changes their mind about a subject, displays interest in continuing to study something related to what we've worked on together, or simply becomes proud of their academic improvement and success. My approach to teaching anything involves first engaging with the student, then making sure they have a strong foundation before reinforcing anything that they're struggling on. I love to make learning fun and interactive, because we all retain more of what we learn when we enjoy it. I hope to reach many more students with my infectious enthusiasm as the years go by.
I am a master teacher with over thirty-five years of teaching experience at both the university and secondary level. I hold a B.A. in English, an M.A. in Speech from the University of Michigan, and an M.F.A. in Theatre from the University of California, San Diego. I am also a trained Waldorf high school teacher. I have acted, directed, and produced hundreds of plays and am a published playwright. I am experienced managing training programs for young artists. I love to see students explore their limits, to challenge them to achieve beyond their expectations, and to imagine and create new expressions. I like teaching English, History, Philosophy, Comparative Religion, and Theatre. I believe that the division between the humanities and the sciences is arbitrary: learning depends on observation, attention to detail, and a feel for beauty and truth. I have guided many students, both gifted and remedial, as a teacher and tutor. In addition to loving the outdoors, I also teach Tai Chi and meditation, enjoy gardening, reading, and a good game of chess.
I am a graduate of the University of California, San Diego. I chose to major in Sociology and became a Pre-dental student over time because I loved learning about the sciences. I enjoy teaching a variety of subjects, including Chemistry, Biology, and Math. I have worked with students of all ages. My belief is that if the student understands the material presented, it is much easier to learn and incorporate. In my free time, I enjoy playing sports; mainly basketball. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind and a healthy mind can do powerful things.
I graduated cum laude with a BA in History and Literature of England from Harvard and spent my junior year at the University of Bristol in England, where I was lucky to add Irish History and Practical Theatre classes to my schedule. I hold an MFA in Acting from UCSD and am an Associate of The London Film School. For much of my adult life, I have been a professional actor dividing time between classical work, new plays, and investigative theater. I have taught classes in acting, public speaking, Shakespeare, and Devised Theatre at UCSD, The Shakespeare Theatre of NJ and in diverse locations as a member of the NY based theater company, The Civilians. No matter what I'm working on with students --reading, writing, public speaking or study skills-- I hope to foster a love of learning and to encourage a curious and inquisitive approach to the world. I believe passionately that proficiency in the language arts empowers people to communicate with clarity and conviction in all aspects of their lives. Fanatical about good stories and good books, I love to read and see movies or plays or tune in to talk shows on NPR. I'm a foodie and an avid traveller and would probably always rather be on Cape Cod.
