As a highly successful and dedicated tutor with five years of experience , and currently a student at The University of Texas at Austin, I specialize in providing customized instruction across a wide range of academic areas, including Math, Science, and English, in addition to test preparation for the ACT and SAT. My approach involves designing and customizing curriculums to meet individual needs , resulting in a proven track record of helping students master challenging concepts and achieve their academic goals.

I am currently an undergraduate at the University of Texas at Austin, focusing on a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. I have a background in both Mathematics and other Natural Science fields and am both willing and comfortable teaching either of these subjects. Furthermore, I have studied and taken the SAT and MCAT, and would be happy to help others who want to take these tests. My prior teaching experience includes mentoring in both group and one-on-one settings. While most of my teaching has been done with my students of similar age, I would be comfortable with younger students as well, having been an older sibling for most of my life. From personal experience from the point of view of both a teacher and a student, learning is not always a straightforward process. Teaching plans should be compatible with individual students, taking into account their goals, needs, and learning styles. For example, I personally like to incorporate secondary lines of reasoning. When learning words, I look at roots, when learning theorems, I study proofs, and when learning mechanisms, I examine comparable systems. In addition, I am a rather visual learner, and favor illustrations such as graphs, tables, and diagrams as learning tools.Besides working as a tutor, I enjoy watching and playing sports, especially football, basketball, and soccer. I enjoy cooking and would like to improve both the quality of food I produce and the repertoire of dishes I can make. I have interests in other subjects, such as geography, history, and architecture. Various other hobbies include watching TV shows, walking around, listening to music, and playing video games.
I am a graduate of Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in anthropology and English Literature in 2014. Since graduation, I have served one year as a K-2 literacy tutor with A Community for Education, and this past year I worked as a kindergarten teacher at IDEA Public Schools. I will be beginning a Masters Program in Education this fall at the University of Texas at Austin with a certification in teaching 7-12th English. My goal as a professional is to unite my love of literature with my passion for social justice to become an inspirational and effective educator of underserved preteen and teenage students. My tutoring style is very positive and encouraging, and centered around teaching my students in a way that makes sense to them. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, running, travel, and cooking.
I obtained my physics Ph.D at the University of Florida, and my BS in math/physics at the University of Texas at Austin. I tutor topics in both math and physics. Physics and math are my passion. I enjoy using math to explore/explain how things work and help my students develop strategies to reason independently.
I help students develop a metacognitive reflective lens for current and lifelong study. I constantly ask students to ask themselves: What am I doing well? And how can I keep doing that? I believe a strengths-based approach is best for learning. I am a board certified art and early childhood-6th grade ESL classroom teacher.
Hi! I'm Eisha, a Public Health major at the University of Texas at Austin with an interest in medicine and teaching.
My name is Maisha and I am a graduate of Biology from UT Austin. I have a passion for learning and sharing this enthusiasm with others. I don't believe that education is restricted to the classroom-learning happens everywhere and throughout our lives. I hope to help students use what they learn to help them succeed outside of the classroom and well into the future. My favorite part about teaching is trying to help students overcome the fear and failure that can sometimes be associated with learning. And the amazing part about tutoring is that it's a two way street: I learn from my students just as much as, if not more than, they learn from me. In addition to my Biology degree, I also hold a UTeach composite science teaching certification obtained from UT's nationally recognized teacher preparation program. I student taught Integrated Physics and Chemistry at McCallum High School and stayed there to teach Aquatic Science and AP Biology for two more months. In my spare time, I like to read, swim, and watch foreign movies.
I am an undergraduate engineering student. Currently, I am pursuing a career in software engineering. I have a couple years of experience in tutoring students for standardized tests (PSAT, SAT, Subject SAT, etc.) and highschool subjects. I also have years of experience working with students of all ages from volunteering in various stem camps as a counselor. During highschool I spent a lot of time learning how to tackle challenges and I love passing on my knowledge so that other students can be successful as well.
I am a career for-profit and not-for-profit CFO who enjoys helping others learn and grow in their chosen field of study and future professions. I have also taught and tutored GMAT and LSAT courses for a leading test preparation company. I have a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Harvard Business School. I have used both Finance and Accounting extensively in my career and enjoy using my deep knowledge of these subjects to help lead organizations. I am also a lifelong learner and am currently completing the few remaining requirements I have for CPA certification. If you think I can help, I would love to set up an introductory call. Best of luck with your studies and all of your future endeavors!
Tutoring is my passion. Working one-on-one with students gives them the focus they need to grasp difficult concepts. I appreciate that each student is unique with a specific learning style. Therefore, I tailor my sessions to fit the student's needs. I am very patient, encouraging, and reliable. With over 20 years of tutoring experience, I have consistently helped students raise their grade level and improve their mastery of the subject matter. As a results-oriented tutor, I am reliable and professional. I am organized and arrive at every tutoring session prepared. For each student I tailor my teaching style to match their learning skills. I maintain good communication with the parents of my students and with their teachers when I have been asked to contact their teachers. My passion is education, and I enjoy conveying this enthusiasm to my students in the following areas: Art History and AP Art History; American, World, and European History and AP levels; English, World, and American Literature; English Language Arts; Theology; Government; Social Studies; and French I, II, III, IV and AP level French as well as French conversation and trip planning.
I am a PhD student in Educational Policy, with a Master's degree in Quantitative Methods, and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. I have 3 years of experience tutoring psychology statistics, and 2 years of experience as a Graduate TA for research methods. I am to the core a research nerd, and feel excited about completing my PhD and conducting education research to inform policy. While my work in policy is on a larger scale, there is nothing quite like having an impact on students directly. My tutoring philosophy is rooted in empowering students to take control of their learning experience, and to ultimately gain the confidence in themselves to succeed.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Philosophy at The University of St. Thomas in Houston, TX. I then went on to get a Master of Science in Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin. I worked as a social worker for the State of Oklahoma Department of Human Services for ten years. I also worked with mentally ill inmates at the Mabel Basset Correctional Center for Women. I had to take early retirement due to health problems but what looked like a tragedy at the time, has allowed me to follow my childhood dream of being an author. I have sent my first crime novel, A Massage to Die For, to an editor. Before I turned to fiction, I published in several professional, psychological journals including the Journal of the Oklahoma Criminal Justice Research Consortium and the Southwestern Psychological Association. I want to be able to share the knowledge I have gained during this journey with my students.
