I am a graduate of the University of Chicago where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. Currently, I am in the master's program at the University of New Mexico where I am continuing my education in philosophy. Ultimately, I hope to go on to earn a PhD in Philosophy so that I can continue engaging in my passions for learning and teaching. While in school, I have spent countless hours coaching high school speech and debate both in person and working online with students across the country. My focus in coaching has been to emphasize philosophy and critical thought to prepare students to think through novel arguments on their own. I am passionate about teaching and tutoring because I love seeing students learn to be intellectually independent and think through problems on their own terms by developing their critical thinking skills. I have devoted my life to education because I am passionate about it, and I try to share some of my passion for learning with the students I work with. I tutor all sorts of Standardized Tests, and I particularly enjoy working on logic-based problems like analogies and math sections. When I am not tutoring or reading for school, I enjoy strategy games (both board games and video games), listening to music, hiking, playing basketball, and just relaxing with friends.

I am a doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology at Duke University. My job requires excellent mathematics, analytic, and writing skills, which are also my favorite subjects to teach. I have experience teaching kids in elementary, middle, and high school, as well as college-aged students. My particular expertise is in managing attention and assisting with executive functioning (e.g., time management and planning).
I am a dedicated, highly motivated individual with a passion for enhancing the learning experiences of others. I have taught as a classroom teacher and as a volunteer at state and national parks for the past few years. I focus particularly on highlighting connections between various subject matter to individuals' everyday lives. After I graduated with my Masters degree from Johns Hopkins University in 2014, I moved to New Mexico to pursue a career in environmental conservation. I currently work as a supervisor for an AmeriCorps program that provides opportunities for young adults to gain skills working in the field of conservation while also receiving training for personal and professional development. I aspire to become a ranger with the National Park Service and a freelance writer.
I am an aspiring character artist for games and currently work as a prop artist. I received my studio art bachelors in 2018 and a 3D modeling diploma in 2020. I tutor for drawing, digital painting, digital sculpting, 3D modeling and texturing for games. I believe in student-centered learning and prioritize building observational skills and fostering creativity. I think the best way for a student to learn is through discovery led by careful guidance.
I'm a Colorado native who just graduated Dartmouth College in 2016 with a degree in history and government. I am passionate about international issues, immigration and the American political system, and am currently volunteering at a local legal non-profit here in New Mexico. I will attend Stanford Law School in the fall, where I plan to study civil rights and liberties and constitutional law.
I'm listening! My students are going to have a better idea than I -- at first -- about what they need help with. Observe, ask questions, and work together to problem solve their success.
I am especially passionate about reading, writing, and foreign languages. I hope to share my passion for knowledge with those around me.
I am a graduate of the University of New Mexico, receiving my Master of Science in mathematics. I tutored as an undergraduate student, taught as a graduate student, and am now proud to be teaching as a faculty member at the local colleges and university. I firmly believe in teaching and tutoring by example, having the students play an active role in examples strengthens understanding and solidifies content knowledge. Outside of teaching an tutoring, I enjoy board games, sports, and being outside.
I am currently a junior at the University of San Diego. I am majoring in Behavioral Neuroscience. I love helping people and tutoring, and am always going to challenge the student to think critically and put in the work. My favorite subjects are the sciences. My hobbies include lifting, reading, and long road trips.
I'm Lorenzo! I'm a rising senior at the University of Pennsylvania studying engineering and education. Teaching has been a lifelong passion and in school I am a part of multiple tutoring organizations in the Philadelphia area. I am passionate about math and science (especially computer science), as they form a basis of thinking that can help in every other subject. I also thoroughly enjoy teaching Writing, English, and History because their applications are so useful in the real world. Other than my abilities, I bring positive energy and attitude that is great for any student.
I am a graduate student at the University of New Mexico in the Nanoscience and Microsystems Engineering program. I finished my Master's degree at the University of Colorado, where I was a teaching assistant in the Physics Department. I love teaching students and sparking passion for math and science that I feel. I love working with different learning styles and finding the approach that works best for each student.
I'm currently pursuing my PhD at UNM, also in Economics. Learning is a passion for me, and I try to inspire it in others with my tutoring!

In a classroom of 20+ students, teachers can't always adapt their pace to each learner's needs. Research shows that personalized 1-on-1 instruction can significantly boost student outcomes by allowing tutors to focus entirely on your student's learning style, gaps, and goals. Tutors can spend time on difficult concepts, skip material your student already knows, and adjust their teaching method in real-time—something that's impossible in a group setting.
Yes. Tutors in New Mexico work with students preparing for SAT, ACT, AP exams, and other standardized tests. A personalized approach to test prep is particularly effective because tutors can identify your student's specific weak areas, provide targeted practice, and teach test-taking strategies that match their learning style. Rather than generic prep courses, you get customized instruction focused on what your student needs to improve.
Absolutely. Across New Mexico's 195 school districts and 928 schools, students at every grade level benefit from personalized tutoring. Whether your child is struggling with multiplication facts in elementary school, navigating algebra in middle school, or preparing for college-level courses in high school, we can match you with a tutor experienced in that grade level and subject.
After you connect with a tutor through Varsity Tutors, you'll work together to set clear learning goals and determine a schedule that fits your student's needs. The tutor will assess your student's current level, create a personalized learning plan, and provide regular instruction tailored to their progress. You'll be able to track improvement and adjust the plan as needed to ensure your student stays on track toward their academic goals.
Yes. Tutors in New Mexico work with families to find scheduling that fits their lives—whether that's after school, on weekends, or at other times convenient for your family. Personalized 1-on-1 instruction is also flexible in terms of frequency; some students benefit from weekly sessions while others prefer more intensive support during certain periods. You have the flexibility to adjust as your student's needs change throughout the school year.
