I am currently a college student studying nursing. I have tutored students since 8th grade and I am thrilled to be able to help students who, like me, sometimes don't understand all the complicated stuff school throws at you! It doesn't annoy me at all if you don't get it the first (or second, or third) time because then we are challenged to find new ways of understanding the subject and, yes, I think that is fun!

I am a graduate of a top university in perceptual psychology, and currently work in the field. I have many years of experience tutoring, both in university settings as well as elementary through high-school education. I primarily tutor student in English, Writing, and Psychology, but I also have extensive experience in the Social Sciences. I have also gotten the opportunity to help students who have English as a second language, where I currently edit academic papers for those wishing to publish. I believe that incorporating real world examples is the best way to understand the material.

I am able to have the most profound impact on those I work with to be the most worthwhile. As a tutor it is my goal to do more than simply help students succeed in a certain class. I strive to help students obtain the confidence and drive to succeed throughout their entire academic careers. I realize that I have a profound opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the students I work with, and I push myself to go the extra mile to make that difference.

I am still attending the University of New Mexico to get a Bachelor of Science in Physics. My hopes are that I can get into a good graduate program for Physics or Astrophysics so that I can become a professor. I tutor Physics, Chemistry, Geometry, Algebra, and Calculus. My favorite subjects to tutor are Physics, and Geometry. Physics and geometry are my favorite subjects to tutor since I am very passionate about physics and believe it can be taught at every level of education. Why geometry is a favorite might have seemed weird at first, but Einstein himself believed geometry is a branch of physics not math. This is why physics is for all ages. I focus on improving the students understanding of the subject. Then I focus on teaching them what critical, creative, and/or logical thinking they need to apply to the subject. For example I will start by ensuring the student has a vivid understanding of how gravity and acceleration are related before teaching them how a pendulum works or how to solve for the path of a rocket. I believe that by knowing how to critically think for a subject allows you to apply what you have learned for life, this also makes studying for finals much easier in the future. Outside of school I enjoy listening to music, working with computers in general and learning other languages. I enjoy improving who I am by meditating, reading, and exercising every day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Varsity Tutors connects you with expert tutors across New Mexico who specialize in subjects ranging from math and science to languages and test prep. Simply tell us your student's needs, grade level, and subject area, and we'll match you with a tutor who fits your learning goals. The process is straightforward—we handle the matching so you can focus on your student's progress.
Tutors in New Mexico provide personalized 1-on-1 instruction across a wide range of subjects, including math (from elementary through calculus), science (biology, chemistry, physics), English and writing, history, languages (Spanish, French, Mandarin, and more), and standardized test prep (SAT, ACT, AP exams). Whatever your student's academic needs, we can connect you with a tutor who specializes in that area.
In a classroom of 20+ students, teachers can't always adapt their pace to each learner's needs. Research shows that personalized 1-on-1 instruction can significantly boost student outcomes by allowing tutors to focus entirely on your student's learning style, gaps, and goals. Tutors can spend time on difficult concepts, skip material your student already knows, and adjust their teaching method in real-time—something that's impossible in a group setting.
Yes. Tutors in New Mexico work with students preparing for SAT, ACT, AP exams, and other standardized tests. A personalized approach to test prep is particularly effective because tutors can identify your student's specific weak areas, provide targeted practice, and teach test-taking strategies that match their learning style. Rather than generic prep courses, you get customized instruction focused on what your student needs to improve.
Absolutely. Across New Mexico's 195 school districts and 928 schools, students at every grade level benefit from personalized tutoring. Whether your child is struggling with multiplication facts in elementary school, navigating algebra in middle school, or preparing for college-level courses in high school, we can match you with a tutor experienced in that grade level and subject.
After you connect with a tutor through Varsity Tutors, you'll work together to set clear learning goals and determine a schedule that fits your student's needs. The tutor will assess your student's current level, create a personalized learning plan, and provide regular instruction tailored to their progress. You'll be able to track improvement and adjust the plan as needed to ensure your student stays on track toward their academic goals.
Yes. Tutors in New Mexico work with families to find scheduling that fits their lives—whether that's after school, on weekends, or at other times convenient for your family. Personalized 1-on-1 instruction is also flexible in terms of frequency; some students benefit from weekly sessions while others prefer more intensive support during certain periods. You have the flexibility to adjust as your student's needs change throughout the school year.
