I moved to Portland in July 2016 after spending the last seventeen years living and working in New York City. The bulk of my professional experience as a web designer and developer came between the years of 1999 and 2010, when I worked at firms such as Simple Circle LLC, Bozell Inc, and Admaster Communications. My daily tasks ranged from sketching and designing interfaces, to planning sitemaps and experiences, to developing sites in HTML5 / CSS / JavaScript, to animating in Flash, to creating custom content management systems for clients in PHP and MySQL.While I've been teaching web and interactive design since 2002, since 2011 I've been doing so almost exclusively. My full time position was at The Art Institute of New York City, but I taught additional adjunct classes at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), New York City College of Technology (City Tech), and York College.

I am passionate about helping my students improve their confidence no matter their learning differences. I help increase motivation and participation based on the student's unique needs. I have experience tutoring the EPPP test, Psychology and Writing. I am a licensed psychologist and I have a doctorate in School Psychology and an MFA in Creative Writing. I have over 7 years of tutoring experience and have helped many children and adults with essays, stories, dissertations, and college essays. As a neurodiverse learner, I know how difficult it can be to stay motivated and learn new things. I graduated from Suffolk University summa cum laude with honors and a presidential scholarship. I attained a BA in Philosophy and English. The scholarship awarded me the chance to teach English, critical writing, and several workshops to hundreds of students every semester for my final three years at the university. I am currently a widely published writer and a graduate student at the number one low-residency MFA program in the country, Vermont College of Fine Arts. I study poetry and translation (Spanish, Russian, and German). The translation component requires me to translate poems from their native language into English. The MFA itself is a rigorous program that focuses on intense reading and writing. The MFA degree is the terminal degree for the fine arts field. I am also a Professor of Literature at Changing Lives Through Literature, an alternative probation program at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. I am also a copyeditor for The Tishman Review and a manuscript reader for Hunger Mountain. Throughout my poetry career, I have worked closely with several nationally recognized poets, most notably the National Book Award recipient David Ferry. I was awarded the 2014 Robert K. Johnson Poetry Prize and three Pushcart Prize nominations

Hello! I grew up traveling between the East Coast and various countries overseas, went to school at Union University, and then moved to Houston. I am just starting graduate work at Vermont College of Fine Arts. During my undergraduate years, I tutored for several different families and also worked with fellow college students who were struggling to make it in their classes. I have tutored in standardized test preparation, time management, history, geography, English, writing, and all elementary school subjects. Since eleventh grade, when I taught some neighborhood kids how to write essays and craft short stories, I have loved the one-on-one element of tutoring because I have the chance to really get to know a student, and then based on the student's learning style, teach them how to succeed. It's so much fun to build relationships with students and walk with them through the process until they realize: I can do this! I have always love facilitating learning experiences. When I was a little kid, I taught my sisters the capitals and countries of Africa using ridiculous mnemonics. It worked. Now we're grown up and married, and we still remember which capital goes with which country.In my free time, I do basic literacy work with bilingual elementary students from low-income backgrounds, and I also volunteer with refugees. I speak four languages, and am learning Spanish now. I enjoy baking bread, making ice coffee, playing piano, hanging out with kids, running, writing, and reading.

I have lived in four countries in my life: England, USA, Nicaragua and Italy. I consider myself to be a global citizen and that colors everything that I do, including teaching and tutoring.I have been teaching Spanish for 14 years. I have taught both Spanish and English in London England. I enjoy helping students learn Spanish and expanding their vision of the world and the Spanish diaspora. In addition, I am an avid reader and writer. I have a broad knowledge of many subjects including, History, English Literature, Music, French, Art History, Culinary Arts.I believe my enthusiasm and passion for travelling and learning about new cultures is easily transmitted to others.

I am a dedicated, published poet with an MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry) from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Poetry is a grace. Poetry is a gift. It can change the way we see the world. It can help to understand the questions that baffle us all. It can help us celebrate, rage, grieve and ponder. Poetry can create music from the sound and texture of language. It can help us explore life and see beauty in the the ordinary. I want to make literature and writing adventurous and vastly enjoyable. I want to share my endless enthusiasm for the remarkable universe of contemporary authors. Writing calls me, and has done so since I was 17. Writing can give us comfort, encouragement, validation and fulfillment. It can give us the tools to communicate our deepest feelings.
