I love math and science and tutoring is how I can help others develop strategies to succeed as well. I earned my BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Towson University and both my MA in TESOL and my Advanced Certificate in Administration and Supervision from Hunter College. After graduating Towson, I wanted to find a job in business, but after living in Rome, Italy, and tutoring English I felt the call to become a teacher. Even now, I hold a NYS School Building Leader license but choose not to pursue a job as principal because I love teaching too much! The relationships I build with my students while I help them achieve their success are why I love going to work every day.My experience consists of teaching and tutoring for 9 years in two NYC high schools - one very competitive, and the other with a poor inner-city population. As a result, I'm very aware of how to vary instruction based on a student's needs, skill level, background knowledge, and individual goals. In addition, I have taught and tutored a variety of courses such as ESL (beginner, intermediate, advanced), ELA, Global Studies 9 and 10, U.S. History, U.S. History Regents Prep, and SAT Critical Reading Prep.I enjoy tutoring the content of U.S. History and Global Studies because as a former high school AP student the subjects always fascinated me, and I take pleasure in fostering my students' interest in the subject as well. However, I also enjoy teaching reading comprehension and writing skills because they are applicable to not only history and English, but other subjects, too.My philosophy on tutoring is that it is a partnership; I provide the content knowledge and strategies for delivering the content in comprehensible and fun manner while the student dedicates his/her time and effort. Finally, I take great pride in my students' success, and I am their cheerleader and tireless advocate! When I'm not teaching or tutoring, I enjoy going to the gym, studying Italian and Spanish, traveling, taking salsa and bachata classes, being outdoors, meeting new people, and using Groupon to try new things - including those out of my comfort zone.I look forward to working with you!

As a dedicated educator with a Master's Degree in School Counseling from Eastern University, I have over eight years of experience working with students in various educational settings. My passion lies in empowering children to succeed academically and socially, particularly in subjects like English, Math, and Reading. I believe in a student-centered approach, tailoring my sessions to meet each child's unique needs and learning styles. By fostering a supportive environment, I aim to enhance their confidence and executive functioning skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for future challenges. I currently work as an academic researcher, mentor, and teacher. I have taught multiple college level biology and science courses. Also, I have tutored middle and high school students in math and science.I truly enjoy working with students and I believe that everyone can understand math and science with the right instruction.
I recently graduated from Towson University in Maryland with a Bachelor's Degree in Science with a concentration in the functional biology of animals. During my stay at Towson, I learned a lot about myself and about other people by getting involved with tons of different activities and groups. To name a few, I was a Resident Assistant for two and a half years, captain of the club soccer team, and an active member of Beta Beta Beta, the biological honor society.I began peer tutoring at school during my sophomore year for Anatomy & Physiology I & II. I soon realized how much I enjoyed helping other people learn, so I began assisting my residents with homework assignments, lab work, and helpful study tactics. I love to tutor nearly all subjects relating to biology, but my favorite subject to tutor is Anatomy & Physiology II. I believe that everyone is the author of their own story; as long as you want it and are willing to work for it, you can achieve it.
I'm passionate about helping students discover confidence and joy in learning. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing a child's eyes light up when they finally understand a new concept or realize their own potential. Over the years, I've worked with elementary and middle school students to strengthen their math skills through patience, encouragement, and creativity. I earned my degree in public health and data analysis, but my greatest lessons have come from working directly with students and learning how each child thinks and learns differently. I enjoy making lessons interactive and relatable, whether that means turning math into a game or connecting it to everyday life. My tutoring philosophy centers on meeting students where they are and helping them build confidence step by step. I focus on creating a positive, supportive environment where learning feels fun, manageable, and meaningful. My goal is for every student to leave each session feeling proud of what they accomplished and excited to keep learning.
