I used to be a university professor for more than 25 years after earning a doctoral degree in Ecology with an emphasis on environmental microbiology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I have taught courses in biology, environmental science, ecology, and microbiology which are my favorite subjects. I can also teach plant biology since my majors in BS and MS degrees are agronomy and plant pathology. I have also extensive experience in research in the area of environmental microbiology dealing with bioremediation, wastewater treatment, and ecosystem analysis. Moreover, I was employed by a biotechnology company where I gained good experience in studying industrial microbiology and enzymes. This will be a great asset for my teaching college students as well as K-12 school students in a real-world situation. As an educator, my teaching philosophy is rooted in creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment that fosters student success, critical thinking, and scientific literacy. I believe in equipping students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools to excel academically and professionally, while also instilling a passion for lifelong learning and a deep appreciation for the biological natural world. More specifically, I will employ active learning (e.g., inquiry-based learning and discussion) and mentorship/support for student success in their careers. In my spare time, I enjoy learning computer programs for data analytics, reading books that enrich my life, watching movies, and exercising at the fitness club.

I received my Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville (2022) in Animal Science (Pre-Vet concentration) and Psychology (Neuroscience concentration). Following graduation I was accepted into Lincoln Memorial University's Master of Veterinary Biomedical Sciences program which I graduated from in December 2023. While I tutor several scientific subjects, I am most passionate about Neuroscience and Psychology. I believe that even an introductory education in these subjects can change students lives and how they think about themselves. I am passionate about education and have been teaching students in one area or another since I was 14 and a TA in an after school program called "Mad About Science!" My mother was the best math and science teacher I ever knew and her influence lives on through me in how I want to impact the lives of students today.
