As an immigrant who has navigated and overcome significant socioeconomic challenges, I am deeply committed to supporting students in achieving their academic and professional aspirations. My journey in education began during my college years in Nigeria, where I prepared students for international examinations such as the SAT, TOEFL/IELTS, and GRE. In the U.S., I have continued this path as a Teaching and Research Assistant, gaining valuable experience in instructing both laboratory and theoretical undergraduate courses. Beyond academia, my early industry career has allowed me to mentor interns successfullyan aspect of my professional life that I hold especially close. Mentorship has played a pivotal role in my own development, and I would not be where I am today without the guidance of exceptional mentors. Drawing from my diverse experiences across continents, classrooms, and professional settings, I aspire to inspire and empower others to pursue their goals with confidence.

My Philosophy of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment comes from each other; and following what Wald and Castleberry (2002) provided in several great suggestions related to learning from each other when it comes to teacher improvement, learning, leadership, moral, school culture, student/faculty learning and life in general. The authors shared the following when it comes to assessment and learning that I also practice:1. Understanding yourself. As learners we have to understand ourselves by knowing who we are, what we believe in, and how we are willing to share what we have learned. We all see and react to things differently; that is important to see and listen to other's viewpoints.2. Understanding others' beliefs and assumptions. We all have various beliefs and assumptions with expressed opinions that can be either influenced by others or just learned from experiences. We should be interested in knowing what others are talented in, what they have trouble with, how they can help another individual overcome an obstacle, what traits or similarities and differences they can bring to the unity for the team.3. Communicating together in a trusting atmosphere. We should be able to listen to others carefully when one shares meaningful information without interrupting their thoughts or sharing your own personal views until they finish. We should respect each other's comments, be honest to giving your own suggestions if asked, be able to determine meaning of their conversation by rephrasing/repeating what they have ideas especially if the atmosphere is warm, pleasant and trustworthy, and should explain the reasons for doing certain things in detailed to avoid any relationship.4. Making decisions together as a whole/consensus. We should be able to be straightforward with each other when making decision as a team. We should have a tally as to how many agree or disagree to certain issues and reasons to support decisions5. Establishing ground rules and roles. When we come together as a team we should have set times to begin and end, we should stay focused on the discussion at hand, we should avoid any unnecessary interruption, we should allow all members to voice their opinion, we should save any negative judgments, we should support each other's suggestions and not knock them down, we should not make meetings long and drawn out, we should have established roles for each facilitator's recording kept.6. Allowing time to reflect. As a team the group should reflect back on the rules, goal, vision, and ideas that have been set to improve learning for all. See what has been accomplished, and what else needs improvement/change on a continuous bases for learning, for growth, and an avoidance of becoming complacent.

I received my Bachelors of Science in Biology from Tennessee State University and my Masters of Public Health from University of Alabama Birmingham.I am currently pursuing a Masters of Fine Arts in Design for Social Innovation.I have tutored middle school and high school students for over 10 years. My tutoring subjects include Math, Science, and ACT prep. When I tutor, I like to get to know my students, understand their frustrations, and also set realistic goals. I am a graduate of Mississippi State University where I earned a Bachelor of Education in Physical Education with a concentration in clinical exercise physiology. After earning my degree from Mississippi State University, I pursued and earned my Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from Tennessee State University. Later, I decided to switch gears and become a Massage Therapist. I absolutely love and enjoy the massage therapy profession. Moreover, I enjoy teaching others and students about the massage therapy field. I am very passionate about teaching and helping students accomplish their academic goals. I know school can seem a bit stressful at times, but through discipline, motivation, and confidence, the task can be accomplished. I have taught subjects such as Anatomy & Physiology, Pathology, Medical Terminology, Student Clinical, College Success, mblex licensure review, and my favorite Kinesiology for several years at various tech schools and colleges. I have also served as a lead instructor and department chair for the massage therapy program at various schools. During my several years of teaching, I have had great success with students passing their mblex on their first attempt with a 90% pass rate. In addition to this, I have attended a couple of mblex writing workshops that are affiliated with the Federation of State Board of Massage Therapy; therefore, I am very familiar with the testing format as well as the test question writing process for the exam. I am a member of the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals.

As an educator with a bachelor's degree in mass communication from Loyola University New Orleans and a master's degree in strategic leadership from Tennessee State University, I have over five years of experience teaching public speaking. My approach centers on creating a supportive environment where students feel empowered to express who they really are so that they can develop their public speaking and communication skills while increasing their self-confidence. Effective communication is a vital life skill. I strive to connect with each student individually, tailoring my methods to suit their unique learning styles. Outside of helping students on Varsity Tutors, I am a professional public speaking coach, ethical leadership speaker, college instructor, award-winning broadcaster, and communications strategist. I am a 2013 graduate of Tennessee State University where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering. I began my college career at Valparaiso University where I played football for a year prior to transferring to Tennessee State. . During my time at TSU, I served as a mentor and tutor to freshman who majored in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). In addition, I spent time at the STEM Prep Academy where I tutored grade school children. While at TSU I joined the Army National Guard, where I have been serving for the last 5 years. As an active participant on campus, I served as president of the American Society of Civil Engineers and assistant secretary of my fraternity on campus. I have a passion to see young individuals succeed in the classroom, and like to assist with that process when I am able to.

I have always lived by the Golden Rule, to treat everyone the way you want to be treated. This is not a difficult task for me to support. I have always had a mindset of equality and fairness. My exposure to various races and ethnicities has always taught me to do right by others. This is no different than how I manage my classroom or conduct me anywhere I may find myself. This is important that everyone is cordial and respectful to one another. Holding this rule in mind makes me a better educator and an all-around better human being.I absolutely love making sure each student that I encounter, whether individually or in a group setting, understands the concept that there can be "fun in learning".I have taught English in all sectors - middle school, high, and even college-level courses. I love to read and write, and all that goes along with those concepts. Having earned my B.A. in English from Rhodes College followed by my Masters in Education from Tennessee State University, I have been propelling students learning success for over 35 years as a public-school English teacher. My students' growth and achievement scores are consistently significantly above average. I have training in both AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature and Composition. I enjoy teaching students writing and test prep, but more than anything I love my students' expressions when they see their improvement.
