I've been tutoring since my junior year of undergrad, when I worked as a writing assistant, running writing workshops and holding office hours to help struggling writers improve their academic essays. After college, my first job was as a tutor down in DC -- primarily for the SAT and ACT, but also for a range of academic subjects (anything except math!).Otherwise, I'm a dog lover and working poet who lives in Brooklyn. Everybody says they like to cook and I'm no exception -- my friends have come to expect me to bring them brownies or cookies (because if I don't bring them to other people, I'll eat them all myself, which is no good for anybody). I have a pet hedgehog, Dwayne 'The Hog' Johnson, and enjoy hanging out with him in my free time.

Hello my name's Craig, and I'm currently a college freshman. Some of my favorite subjects are philosophy, economics, and physics, but I tend to enjoy learning and teaching most everything, as all subjects are integral to understanding the world. I am a graduate of Saint John's University (Collegeville, MN) and received a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science. Since graduation, I have worked as a Software Engineer at a Fortune 500, third-party logistics company developing transportation management software. My industry experience has helped me grow my software development skills while providing many opportunities to take on mentorship roles with new employees. For the last year, I have also been involved with CoderDojo Twin Cities teaching students the basics of coding. I find mentorship exceedingly rewarding and I am very excited to use my experience to help students excel in the field of technology.I find it important to center learning around the student's interests to keep things fun and engaging. All students learn differently and it is crucial to teach towards the strengths of the student. I also strive to give students the autonomy to influence how they want to learn to provide a sense of ownership for the learning process. Preparation is crucial for understanding a student's background, strengths/weaknesses, and expectations/goals. It's equally crucial to incorporate this information into lesson plans for the most effective use of time during the session. I am very excited to work with you to come up with a plan to meet your goals.In my spare time, I enjoy running, hiking, and camping.

I love tutoring and have been working with students of all ages for over 15 years. My undergraduate education at St John's Collegea unique school that has retained the traditions of classical educationprovided fertile ground for my work as a tutor. By engaging deeply with a range of texts, from Euclid's Elements to Pascal's Penses, I developed close reading skills and a love for all things literary. I then passed on those skills and that passion when I began teaching at Landmark School in Massachusetts. At Landmark, a school for students with language-based learning differences, I especially sought to strengthen students' reading and writing skills. Since coming to California to pursue my master's and doctorate degrees, I have continued to develop students' reading and writing skills so that they too can develop a love for the written word. Other than tutoring and studying, I can be found riding my bike, hiking, baking and exploring places around the Bay area.

I graduated from St. John's College in Annapolis, MD with a degree in Liberal Arts. I studied mathematics, science, language and philosophy. My broad academic background helps me to be interdisciplinary and encourage students to make cross-connections between subjects. We are the future! YOU are the future!High school is an odd time for everybody, and sometimes we don't get the help we need to succeed in the manner in which works best for us. There have been times where I had questioned my own intelligence in high school because my approach to learning material was not consistent with the one being given to me. Nevertheless, there are strategies that can be used to learn and value education. I think that once someone has the ability to think, analyze and synthesize, success will come relatively easily and learning will actually be really fun. I promise that much.You are not correct answers, you are human. You are not failure. You just understand things in ways that best suit your experiences in life and your cognition. I want to be able to work with that, not change that, because that's the beauty of individual thought.If education is the road to success, then we have to make sure the vehicle that is driving us can develop fluency of the road. There are different kinds of vehicles, but they can all lead to the same path despite differences in speed and engines. I want to emphasize that despite these differences, everybody is capable. I am here to navigate, but ultimately, the student is the driver. You are the driver.
