I want to help students achieve their academic goals especially when it comes to psychology. I feel all students deserve a chance at greatness. I plan to do this with compassion, an open mind, empathy, and genuineness.

I have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from MCPHS University in Worchester, MA, and a BA in Computer Science from Rhode Island College. I graduated both colleges Cum Laude and at both of them I was helping my fellow students as a volunteer tutor in various subjects of math and science. For the last 2 years I have been homeschooling my middle school aged daughter and as an instructor I have learned a lot from working with her. My previous teaching experience includes teaching History of Arts at the Childrens School of Arts in Kharkov, Ukraine. (My first BA from Ukraine is in theater journalism). I have always loved to learn and teach, and was successful at both. I strongly believe in the value of education. I am an avid reader and a big admirer of the British show Doctor Who. All my life I have loved dogs, I kept many of them and presently I am enjoying the company of my golden retriever called Oromis.

I received a BA in Psychology from Rhode Island College and a Master of Education degree from Cambridge College in Massachusetts. My experience with students includes internationally teaching english and health as a Peace Corps volunteer in Thailand, to helping US high school students prepare for the world of work. As an adjunct professor at a Community College, I taught many subjects including writing, critical thinking, psychology and study skills strategies. I greatly enjoy recognizing the potential in students and helping them strengthen their academic skills. I tutor reading, study skills, writing and composition. I believe life-long learning is necessary for an enriched and fulfilled journey. I facilitate creative and critical thinking during the process of learning.

I obtained my Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics at the University of Connecticut (UConn) and I now work as a Lecturer for the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, School of Mathematics. I also obtained both my Bachelor's and Master's of Arts degree from Rhode Island College (RIC) and have worked as a Math Tutor and Teacher's Assistant throughout my time at RIC. Intellectually, I believe knowledge is fluid and requires practice to perfect. I enjoy showing my peers/students different ways of examining problems in order to achieve a well-rounded understanding of the material through derivation, never memorization. My main mission is to showcase my passion for Math and hopefully encourage students to see the beauty and wonder of this phenomenal subject.

I have successfully taught elementary level children and ESL students for 21 years. I am certified in grades 1-6 with experience with Pre-K through high school. My subjects of tutoring are Elementary Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Grammar. My major is English and, therefore, I can tutor in the area of Literature, Grammar, and Writing. I hold a Masters Degree in ESL and can tutor both adults and children in the acquisition of English.

With an extensive background in corporate communications, authentic storytelling, and creative writing, I meet learners where they are and support them with patience, structure, and encouragement. I love helping students find their voice, strengthen their skills, and realize they're more capable than they think.

I am currently a Kindergarten teacher in an inclusion classroom. I have been teaching for 3 years in a public school district. I hold a M.E.D. in Early Childhood Special Education and B.S. in Early Childhood Education. I have experience working with a wide range of learners. I feel that using student's interests can really bring learning to life. Students are much more engaged when they are interested in what they are learning. Outside of the classroom; I love to dance (tap, ballet, jazz), watch New England Sports, go to concerts, and explore new places! I am currently working as a Special Education Teacher in Fall River, Massachusetts. All in all I have about 6 years of teaching experience and I try really hard to make learning interesting and applicable to my students, no matter the subject. In my free time, I love spending time with my yellow lab, Gibson and taking him on hikes. I also really enjoy watching New England sports teams and spending time with my family.

Having been a student myself for many years, I recall loving learning, but hating feeling unsuccessful. After studying and graduating with a B.S. in Elementary and Special Education, I am now on the other side of things, with a great realization of just how much is being asked of students. With high-stakes testing, high standards of expectations, and sometimes large class sizes, it's no wonder some students find themselves missing bits and pieces of information that they need to do their best.As a teacher in the classroom, I'm dedicated to helping my students grow in their abilities, whatever it takes. Sometimes it isn't just about how I teach a concept to students-- it's about how I teach that one concept to that one student in particular. I find such an importance in individualizing instruction so that it is easy to understand and specific to student needs, and as a tutor, I hope to do the same.

I LOVE BIOLOGY. Joking aside I am currently finishing up my masters degree in biology (MBS) from Drexel University and this work is following a bachelors degree in biological sciences (BS) from Rhode Island College. I also and applying to medical schools for the class of 2021 and have experience with both the old and new MCAT and the application cycle so I encourage students if they have questions to ask away. My hobbies include sports, travel, and movies.

Do you remember that teacher from when you were in school? Not A teacher. THAT teacher. The one that stayed late after class to tutor you. The one that gave you the confidence to push yourself further and to work harder. The one you would want to see one more time so you can tell them what a difference they made. What was their name? For me his name was Mr. Walker, and I know that I would not be where I am today is it was not for him. I did not get into this profession to be a teacher. I was called to this profession to be THAT teacher.The funny thing about being THAT teacher, though, is that they are never just a teacher. Often, they take on whatever roles they need to in order to make a difference. So, although I have only been at this for half a decade, I have always attempted not just to be the best teacher but to be the best curriculum coordinator, data analyst, or counselor I can be. When my school switched to Common Core Standards I volunteered to make sure these standards were implemented in a way that built off of the curriculum we already had in place. When thirty-four of our students were not going to graduate because of their NECAP score, I analyzed every piece of data available to best identify the gaps those students had. And after my administration met with these students and their parents I created and taught a summer camp to address these gaps.I hope you will give me the opportunity to be THAT teacher for you.
