Shortly after, I received my Master of the Art of Teaching degree at Montclair State. I hold two certifications, English and Teacher of Students with Disabilities.

I am very passionate about helping people improve their communication skills. I am a firm believer that students may not always remember what you teach them, but they will always remember how you made them feel.

I'm a Master Bander and have run my own banding station in the past, tracking migration and population numbers of songbirds. I currently volunteer for projects involving banding migrating shorebirds in the spring and hawks in the fall. I've also been involved in wild bird rehabilitation - helping sick and injured wild birds recover and be released back into the wild - for the past 14 years.

I am passionate about assisting students in being their best selves in different avenues of life, especially academics. I'm talking about. I worked as a newspaper editor for more than 10 years, coaching young, 20-something reporters in the craft of journalism. Everyone I've worked with during my career --40 or 50 reporters -- has come to the task with the basics already in place. My job was not to build the engine from scratch but merely to fine-tune it.
