I am an undergraduate student studying for a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at Manhattan College. I am also minoring in Economics and Mathematics. I have tutored high school, middle school, and elementary school students for just over four years. Beginning with my first year at Manhattan College, I started teaching a SAT Prep Course and have done individualized SAT Prep through the school. My strongest subject is Math though I have am very about am well-versed in Science, Literature, and Writing, too. I am a huge proponent of education. I enjoy both the teaching and learning side. I take great pride in the fact that I am able to teach and find such joy in helping my students to learn. Aside from tutoring, I am an Eagle Scout and have many years experience teaching Rock Climbing both inside and outside of scouts.

I am a graduate of Manhattan College. I received my Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics. I also received my Master of Science in Chemical Engineering. During my graduate studies, I was a teaching assistant in the Chemical Engineering Laboratory where I helped the students with the various labs and equipment. I have a 16 year old daughter who I have been "tutoring" in mathematics since she was 9 years old as she has struggled with it. I tutor math specializing in elementary school math, middle school math, Algebra I and Algebra II. My tutoring style consists of getting students to see each and every aspect of a problem and then analyzing and executing the solution to it. I have always enjoyed engaging and helping people in my life which translates over to and enriches the tutoring experience.

Academic coaching and tutoring study skills has been a passion of mine for over 15 years. I have a masters degree in Special Education. My daughter had me as her live-in educational therapist all her life and was diagnosed with a processing LD in middle school. She is a college sophomore now with a 3.87 GPA. I currently work in Brooklyn in the New York City Public Schools. I am a Special Education teacher and am currently teaching in a 3rd grade classroom. I have experience with students from ages 4-14, and students of mixed backgrounds and disabilities. I believe that every child deserves an excellent education and the support needed to achieve their goals. I am an extremely hard worker and I am constantly trying to find new ways to help my students grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially. Every child is unique, and I believe it is so important to find what works best from student to student.

My philosophy is that every student deserves to be successful, no matter how or at what pace they learn. My job is to figure how you learn, and to help you develop skills to be able to learn on your own! I also like to make learning fun. Education shouldn't be boring, and we should bring life to it!

I am a graduated Medical Doctor with extensive knowledge in Math and Science, as well as English as a Second Language (ESL) and Spanish.My teaching experiences include educating adults preparing for licensing and certification in various medical fields, including Phlebotomy, EKG monitoring, Certified Nursing Aide, and Patient Care Technicians.I also have experience educating children in middle school and high school in science, math, ESL and Spanish.I look forward to working with you and helping you reach your academic goals.

My personal goals and desires are ultimately continue to grow professionally within the field of education / special education. As an educator I believe in life long learning and as a result I strive for growth in all that I do. Ultimately I would like to work for the state and own an educational facility for students with special needs. I received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Manhattan College, where I worked as a tutor in the Center for Academic Success. As a math tutor, it is my personal goal to make fractions less scary, I really enjoy taking higher level math concepts and make them accessible to those who feel like they will never understand them. I also want to encourage those who enjoy math to be curious and learn more than what their teachers teach.

I believe it takes many skills and attributes to be an outstanding teacher. Among them are: patience, a positive attitude, flexibility, understanding and being a good listener. Children are very perceptive and I believe they know a lot more than we think they do about people. One thing I would like to say about myself, is that I consider myself to be a team-player. Having worked in the business world, prior to becoming a teacher, I found that the most successful people were those who worked as a team. I believe that this can also be translated in the school environment. We are all working for the same team, the students! This means working together as educators, and always being open to ideas and suggestions from peers.

I graduated in 2014 from Manhattan College with a B.S in Chemical Engineering, and I currently work as a Process Engineer. I have 5 years experience tutoring mathematics and chemistry courses at all levels, and I recently became a certified tutor by the National Tutoring Association. I enjoy tutoring because of the individualized learning atmosphere, and I take pride in my ability to determine what is challenging an individual, and how to figure out an unique solution that will help that particular student. I am available to tutor during the week in the evening, as well as any time on weekends. During my free time, I enjoy playing and watching sports like basketball, football, and tennis. I also enjoy watching movies, listening to music, and cooking.

I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Manhattan College. As a graduate of a liberal arts school, I had the opportunity to expose myself to a variety of disciplines such as Music, Philosophy, and Literature. Though I have primarily tutored mathematics for all ages, I've had a wide range of experiences supporting a variety of topics in the math and technology fields. I also can confidently help learners with computer programming, music theory and composition, and using various forms of technology. Math concepts for elementary and secondary students are my forte, though I always find geometry and trigonometry to be the most fun to teach. I always enjoy any opportunity for more meaningful engagement with abstract logical ideas and problem-solving! From ages 7 to 70+, I pride myself in being able to find the best way to make whatever someone is struggling with accessible and stress free. My main teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that people learn best when you connect the unfamiliar to the familiar and provide reference points. Reference points allow learners to make connections and make comparisons to content that they already know. Not only does this connection-making allow for more fun since we are connecting concepts to interests, we also feel more confident because we are reminded of what we already know! I believe that a strong educational foundation is essential for developing the necessary knowledge to meaningfully engage with the world upon reaching adulthood, and I am highly motivated to be a partner in my students' learning as they acquire that knowledge.

I currently have my M.S in Environmental Engineering and B.S in Environmental Science with plans to start medical school in the summer of 2021 in New York! After excelling in my college undergraduate coursework I began teaching at my college's Center for Academic Success tutoring subjects such as Biology, Organic Chemistry, Physics, Biochemistry, Calculus and more. After graduation I continued to tutor throughout graduate school and even taught college level courses as an assistant professor! For me, tutoring allows me to spread knowledge of the topics I love. Graduating from Manhattan College in May of 2012, I received my bachelor of science in chemical engineering. In addition to that, I was a Resident Assistant for the last 2 years of my college career, which was an additional responsibility, but an invaluable experience nonetheless. Being a Resident Assistant meant counseling and creating a positive learning environment for 140+ students in 2 years. My time management and people management skills were sharpened from this time spent with strict deadlines and colorful personalities.My tutoring experience is vast because I have so much more to offer than simply a high GPA and some academic knowledge. In my experience, some of the smartest people in the world are the worst teachers, because they can't relate to the student. Whether its math, physics, chemistry, psychology, astronomy, reading or creative writing, I've experienced the ups and downs in these fields of thought and at this point I've assimilated a great deal of information. I know the feeling of hunger when I don't get some concept, and I also know that satisfying feeling of understanding the concept. At the beginning of the tutoring session, I want to know where you are, and what you already know. Once we've established what you comprehend and what you don't comprehend, then we can go along and identify within the time we have for a particular session, where you want to go. Once the map is marked and our sail is set, and our goal is set, then we can go ahead and chart our path, and do what we need to do to achieve that goal. If you have a homework you need help on, perfect. If you have an exam to study for, perfect, show me your notes and homework and we'll go over them and I'll make new questions for you. If you have nothing, and need to start from scratch, that's fine too. I always bring my iPad and can create a lesson for you on the spot.My style is vibrant and energetic, yet calm and assuring. I will challenge you. I will not give away the answers for you; I will make you explain the concepts to me after I help you understand them more concretely. I have a magnificent imagination where I'll relate the funniest, most absurd ideas together so that a concept makes sense. Lastly, I am extremely attentive and observant to people that are around me. I will identify the language you say to me and will then know the type of learner you are, and the way you process information best. I am a recent college graduate with a B.A. in History from Manhattan College. I have been a tutor for over three years. I love engaging in one-on-one tutoring sessions because I think it is the best way for a student to improve his or her understanding of a given subject. I am a hard working systems professional that has never outgrown my love for math or for coaching others.As a student, I earned a BS in Mathematics/Psychology from Manhattan College with a minor in Computer Science. At that time I coached students in calculus and advanced mathematics. At this time, I also coached high school students in algebra and trigonometry.As a professional, I have trained and mentored hundreds of individuals throughout my career. I have both designed systems, created training material and traveled in both the US and Europe to train my co-workers. In addition, I have worked as on-line instructor for University of Phoenix, teach programming and Computer Information Systems. I coach basketball, baseball and soccer for my child's local sports teams.My most important job is that of a father to my 12 year old son. I have worked with him over the years, and I am proud to say that he is sharing in my love of math as a student in the Math Program at the local Middle School.My favorite word when coaching is the word 'Yet'. Of course students may not be good at math...yet. And of course, a student may not know an answer to a math problem...yet. I hold professional certifications in New York State for Mathematics Grades 7 - 12, Mathematics Grades 5 - 6, and Students with Disabilities (Generalist) Grades 7 - 12.I have been teaching for four years in New York City, grades 6 - 8. I have taught Mathematics grades 6 - 8, Computers, and as a Special Education teacher across subjects ( Math, Science, ELA, Art, Spanish etc.) Prior to teaching full time, I completed two student teaching placements, one in middle school grade 7 and one in high school teaching Algebra 2. Leading up to my time in education I worked at a local YMCA for over five years, starting as a Camp Counselor and working my way up to Assistant Camp Director.I am comfortable tutoring elementary subject and middle school subjects, particularly math. I am an avid photographer, graphic designer, soccer player and rower. I've played soccer almost my entire life and took up rowing in high school and rowed at the collegiate level. I started photography in High School and graphic design in college. I enjoy both digital and film photography, as well as developing my own film and photographs. I am proficient with both Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
