I am a graduate of Loyola University of New Orleans and a past member of Toastmasters International for 20 years. As founder and 1st president of my Toastmaster's club, I have served as mentor to over 75 students. My undergraduate and graduate education in Music Therapy has enabled me to work with students of all ages and abilities attending Elementary, High School and College. My Master's Music Therapy Curriculum focused on educational and therapeutic outreach for students who have been described as "Difficult to reach Youth". They have not experienced the self-esteem "boosters" and "successful Test Scores" to attend universities like "Loyola University, Yale University, Xavier University, or Harvard University"; however, so many of these students can find success in their personal and professional lives when given the opportunity to excel toward important educational goals. After teaching all subjects (Elementary and Secondary) in Louisiana, California, Texas, and Belize, I have witnessed students' unique moments of educational success that enables them to gain self-confidence, self-assurance, and self-esteem. These special moments have literally changed the trajectory of many students' lives. Also, my graduate and undergraduate work at Loyola enabled me to create new technology for children (and adults) with disabilities to read and perform advanced level professional music. Our Blind Music Performing Group in Las Vegas has performed the National Anthem at local Professional Sports Venues, City Council Meetings, and Community Celebrations. My degree in Music Therapy has provided me with an amazing ability to work with students ranging from "Advanced to Special Education". Overall, I have witnessed the light that shines so brightly in students when they realize their own "Unique Abilities" . THIS MOMENT IS ALWAYS "REMARKABLE". I remain thankful for the opportunity to witness this moment in all my students' lives.

Hello,As the daughter of an elementary school teacher, the importance of education has been stressed to me for as long as I can remember.I grew up in Arkansas but attended Loyola University New Orleans as an undergraduate student. I then attended Tulane University's School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine where I earned a Master of Public Health degree in Community based Health. With a continued thirst for knowledge, I attended Case Western Reserve University and earned a Master of Science in Medical Physiology. Currently, I'm a new resident physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology.I consider myself a lifelong studentand have always enjoyed teaching. While a graduate student at Case, I taught 9th grade English and was a part-time nanny for a 5 year old boy.I've tutored and been a mentor while being in medical school as well.In my free time, I enjoy doing anything at all with my husband and daughter. I have been teaching private music lessons for over 7 years. I first started playing piano when I was very young and fell in love with music immediately. I have made it a commitment to spread my love for music and knowledge to others and am grateful for the opportunity to do so. Along with teaching I am also an active performing and recording artist who composes and produces original music. I even have experience teaching music production/beat making and have been teaching that subject direct with clients and at a music school for about 3 years now. I do have formal training in music and received my bachelors degree in Music Industry Studies from Loyola University New Orleans. My teaching philosophy centers around remembering that learning is fun and especially for those subjects that we want to learn and improve at. In order to improve we must be disciplined with goal setting and practice, yet keep the joy of the subject itself as the focus ! When it comes to music specifically I like to incorporate traditional music theory, reading and writing, ear training, and improvisation and composition skills. I tailor each lesson to the students individual needs, goals, and desires for learning, meaning if you want to focus 80% on composing and just want enough reading and writing music to understand the basics, but not make it the focus, than that is fine.
