About Me
I'm an ESL teacher with 6+ years of teaching experience and case management in the NC public school system, 2+ years of leading the ESL department, and 8+ years of tutoring experience. My teaching style is based on equity, inclusion, and empathy. My favorite part about teaching and tutoring is seeing someone gain confidence in their skills and knowledge. Most of my experience has been tutoring ESL and writing at the high school and college level, but I'm also comfortable tutoring middle schoolers, adults, and groups! My favorite skills to teach are writing/grammar and speaking/pronunciation because I enjoy helping people gain confidence in skills they will use in their daily lives. I graduated from the Honors College at Western Carolina University where I received my Bachelor of Science in Education with a focus on Secondary Education and a minor in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I also received my Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Art from the same University. I have a lifetime certification from the College Reading and Learning Association for Level I and Advanced Level II Tutoring.
Hobbies & Interests
Linguistics, languages, communication, and travel are all fascinating to me. I love meeting people from around the world and learning about different cultures. In my free time, I like to play video games, make art, listen to music, and spend time with my friends.
