About Me

I am an undergraduate student at Barnard College majoring in Urban Studies and minoring in Spanish. I am also a Population and Family Health graduate student at Columbia School of Public Health. While I tutor a range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Spanish, Guitar, and Voice. I strive to create an inclusive, equitable learning environment that accommodates all students' needs and academic goals. In high school, I taught elementary schoolers about community health and hygiene in Spanish. In addition, I facilitated workshops about cross-cultural communication and active listening, and mentored middle schoolers as an Outdoor School student leader. More recently, I have worked with Sprout Up! NYC teaching first graders about environmental science, facilitated a course for ninth graders about health disparities as a Peer Health Educator, utilized my Spanish fluency to mentor first generation African immigrant youth while studying abroad in Spain, and tutored elementary and middle-school youth in both ESL and English reading comprehension. I have over ten years of acoustic guitar and voice training experience and have taught beginning guitar lessons to youth aged 5 through 15. I strive to embrace creativity and share my passion for music with Varsity Tutor learners.
