Michelle
- I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Saint Thomas with a concentration in zoology and environmental science.
About Me
I am currently working towards a PhD in Entomology at the University of Minnesota. I also have an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from North Hennepin Community College. My tutoring experiences include serving as a peer biology tutor, and as a general STEM and writing tutor for K-12 and adult learners through the public library. I have also taught freshman college level courses in entomology and human biology. I am a broadly trained biologist and can provide tutoring for a variety of biological topics. My current research is split between ecology and molecular biology. I have also received training to tutor essay writing and have experience working with ESL students. I believe that STEM is for everyone and that mastering biology is within every student's reach. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, dancing, and hiking.
Hobbies & Interests
My professional interests include community ecology and conservation. I currently study an endangered bumble bee species to learn more about its habitat requirements and to improve survey methodologies. I am also designing a minimally harmful technique for collecting genetic samples from bumble bees that can be used on protected species.
