About Me

I tell my kids all the time that words are the most powerful tool we have. As human beings, our ability to communicate is part of the reason we're at the top of the food chain. In my humble opinion, words are the only thing powerful enough to both hurt and destroy, heal and empower. From a young age, words fascinated me and I've spent most of my life studying, teaching, and communicating my passion for the English language. I have a B.A in English Literature from St. Cloud State University where I studied literature, creative writing, and linguistics. I have graduate level coursework and experience in English Studies where I taught and studied English Composition. Additionally, I studied English theory and history, as well as writing center and small group education. I worked as a Graduate Level Writing Consultant and was the Assistant Director of a writing center. I am passionate about writing and the many ways words are used. It doesn't matter what you're studying or what you're planning to do beyond studying, everyone needs to know how to communicate and write. I am here to help you create, edit, brainstorm ideas, structure, and navigate everything you need to know in order to write your way through life. I truly believe in the power of words and I've spent my life learning how to use them--how the poets and playwrights of the past masterfully painted words across the page--how to use them to persuade, inform, and enlighten. Written word allows you and requires that you think about something from start to finish before you deliver it to your audience. Use it eloquently and people will hear you, use it beautifully and they'll listen.
