About Me

I am a currect member of the National Tutoring Association and a graduate of the University of Florida where I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. I worked as a registered nurse for 18 years at Hutzel Hospital in Detroit, MI in the NICU taking care of premature babies. I intensely loved caring for them and teaching the parents how to care for their infant's special needs. I also worked on a Cancer Treatment Center for two years and an extended nursing care facility for five years as a Wound Care Specialist. I also earned my Master of Science Degree in Counseling at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ and graduated Magna Cum Laude. During all of this time, I was developing a deep passion to enter the field of education. Next I started teaching English as a second language overseas, and completely fell in love with teaching, and with my students! I have been teaching for six amazing years and absolutely love tutoring nursing graduates with Varsity Tutors in order to prepare them to take their NCLEX exam and PASS it with much self confidence! I enjoy changing the futures of my students and setting them up for an exciting and life changing career in nursing opportunities! I encourage my students to ask many questions during our sessions together, because teaching is a process of learning for both the students and the teacher. Asking questions also gives me the opportunity to learn about and assess my student's knowledge base. My students come first and I will do anything to help them understand the material and excel in the goals of the individualized Learning Plans that we develop together. I do not cancel sessions with my students because that adds to their anxiety, and they are already pretty anxious about taking the NCLEX in general. When I am not teaching, I enjoy crocheting aphgans for the babies in the nurseries of a few hospitals in the Detroit area. I am also a Volunteer at an animal shelter in Canton and am an avid swimmer!
