About Me

I am a recent graduate from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Arts in Gender & Sexuality Studies and a minor in United States History. I'm excited to join the Varsity Tutors team and begin tutoring students ranging from elementary to high school because I believe that a tailored, inspiring approach unlocks potential that students may not even realize they possess. In the current remote-learning environment, it's harder than ever to fully grasp course material I'm here to fill in these gaps and ensure students don't miss out on critical foundations or future opportunities. I have teaching experience from tutoring while in high school and working as an Outdoor Educator a few years ago, but I believe that what really allows me to connect and engage with students is my experience from actually being a student and tutee. I find that a personalized approach based on communication and individual learning style empowers students to not only improve in one specific class, but thrive in future endeavors. In one word, my tutoring style is collaborative: I tailor my approach to engage each student and create long-lasting confidence in the material and themself. I've also worked with students with ADHD and mood disorders, so I understand the importance of designing tutoring sessions around each student's unique needs in creating a productive learning atmosphere. Outside of academia, I enjoy reading, spending time with friends, and listening to music. My favorite way to spend an afternoon is walking along the lakefront with my dog, Jude (weather permitting!).
