About Me

I am a former high school science teacher in the New York City Department of Education who has returned to school myself to pursue a degree in genetic counseling. I received a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Bard College in 2012, with a specialization in secondary science education. During my time as a teacher, I also offered after school tutoring sessions to my students in science, ELA, and SAT prep. In my five years as a teacher, I developed a passion for helping students learn to love science and perfect their reading and writing skills. I believe that an effective teacher or tutor meets students where they're at, whatever their skill level, and then helps them set goals and strive for growth. As a former teacher, I have a wealth of experience designing learning activities to meet a variety of different learning styles and needs. I'm excited to connect with new students through Varsity Tutors to continue helping new students meet their goals!
