About Me

I grew up in California and graduated from The University of Oklahoma as a double major. I hold a B.A. in French Language & Literature and a B.A. in Public Relations & Journalism. I have taught French at the college level as well as tutored in my universitys language lab. I had the privilege of mentoring elementary school students in a French immersion program. Ive traveled extensively in metropolitan France and the province of Qubec. Currently, I work as a Public Relations professional for an education focused non-profit. No matter how long I study, the phases of learning a foreign language remain fresh in my mind. The anxiety of new grammar and the joy of mastering it are something of a universal with students. As a Journalism student and PR professional, the precision with which I was taught to write has imbued me with a keen sense of what constitutes not just good but great writing. Editing, proofreading, and revision are second nature to me as are the intricacies of English syntax and grammar. Helping others achieve confidence in their work, no matter the topic, is the goal of my tutoring. Everyone learns differently and distinctly. If there were a one-size-fits-all to learning, everyone would use it! So, it is essential I understand my students: what do they enjoy about learning; what challenges them; how do they learn best; what are their strengths; what are their learning goals; how do their goals align with those of their classes? Suffice to say, empathy is the foundation of my teaching style.
