I graduated from the University of Oregon and received a B.S. in Chemistry with departmental honors (2013-2016). My favorite subjects to teach include general chemistry and organic chemistry. Recently, I have been a teaching assistant for chemistry labs and begung to shape my teaching style. The way I engage students is by having students bring questions to me, so we can discuss the problem. I typically prefer to have discussions over lectures because it is more engaging for students to have conversations about the material than listen to me talk about the subject. When students bring me questions, I normally will break the question into smaller chunks to help the student identify the hardest part of the problem. Once the problem is identified we would discuss this problem to make sure the issue is resolved. This method helps maximize the usefulness of the sessions by making the student aware of their weak points, so they can improve outside of the tutorting sessions. Outside of academia I indulge in the outdoors by running, swimming, snorkeling, hiking, and snowboarding.
