Spending a year of my childhood on a farm, I was able to spend time in TN forests, and the variety of different plant life always fascinated me. Eventually I would grow up to translate this fascination into an interest in genetics: what makes these structures work? Why do we not know everything about genetics when this field is integral to the process of every living thing? The answers are quite complicated. My aim as a tutor is to incite a curiosity in students as well as to sharpen critical thinking skills when examining basic and complex science subjects. It isn't easy navigating the biological and genetic processes behind living structures, in fact, even scientists admit that we are far from "having everything figured out", but I hope to assist students make a transition into scientific thinking and understanding.
