About Me

My name is Mattias and I recently graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Economics and in International Relations. I am currently working in a Bronx Public School as a teaching apprentice in Algebra. I have four years of experience tutoring one on one with students of all ages. I enjoy tutoring for the chance to develop personalized lessons for students founded on a trusting relationship rather than the transactional and memorization based education I felt I predominantly received growing up. I am energized most by the rare look in student's eyes when they finally cement the connection they have hovered on the edge of making. Watching the second grade students whose tutors I coordinated make those connections has made me consider teaching as a profession, and I hope by tutoring with Varsity I can continue my developing journey in the field of education.
