I have taught primarily in the middle school in my district and have experience teaching all three middle school grade levels. I spend the first five years of my career teaching sixth grade before transitioning to seventh grade for year and finally settling into teaching eighth grade for the last five years. Throughout this time I have worked with students who have had a range of skill levels, but I have had significant experience with struggling readers and writers. I have worked in a one on one setting with students both in the classroom and as a private tutor. I have a simple philosophy that every student is capable of success given the right tools and a little time and attention. Additionally, I have worked with high school level students as well, especially aiding in the writing of college essays. I also have a strong knowledge of American History and am able to tutor students in that subject as well.
