About Me

I have experience mentoring young and mature adults in reading and writing skills. As a New York public school teacher, I taught reading comprehension and writing skills to South Bronx high school students at The Metropolitan High School. I have contributed to the above average ELA Regents pass rate at my high school through assignments developed to build confidence in reading and writing skills. I also helped develop a college prep course focused on the skills required to improve career decision-making and scores of college entrance assessments. As a production manager for ten years, I also have experience mentoring clients of small publishers and printing companies as they prepared their texts for print production in a global marketplace. My experience in public school teaching and in copy editing and proofreading helps me teach students the reading and writing skills required in academic and business communication. Data from students’ written work and assessments helps me plan curriculum that increases understanding of basic reading and writing mechanics. I use graphic organizers to help students analyze literary and informational texts. When possible, I incorporate technology in classroom presentations to modify instruction for learning modalities.
