About Me

I am fascinated by language, by both the intricacies of its structure and by the awesome array of possibilities it can unleash when masterfully used. Give me a piece of writing, whether highly technical or enchantingly lyrical, and I will immerse myself in it and then quickly become “fluent” in its particular style. Just last year I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ithaca College with a degree in English Literature as well as a minor in Integrated Marketing Communications. At Ithaca, I was a proud member of the Sigma Tau Delta English National Honor Society as well as the interdisciplinary National Honor Society Phi Kappa Phi. Next fall, I will be beginning a PhD program in English Literature at Brown University in order to pursue my dream of becoming a college professor. Outside of the classroom, I am passionate about music, movies, Spanish and traveling. As a teacher, I strive to cultivate an organic interest in my subject matter while simultaneously developing a thorough knowledge of the technical aspects of that field. I do this by encouraging independent thinking in my students while guiding them through the sometimes thorny thickets of more structural aspects of our work such as grammar, punctuation, or source citations. It is my hope that my students will come away from my lessons not only prepared to succeed in their examinations and compositions, but also with a bourgeoning interest in these fields themselves.
