About Me

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Journalism from Virginia Tech. I am planning on attaining a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. In my time at Virginia Tech, I was a member of the Virginia Tech Literacy Corps, who provided tutoring in Math, Reading and Writing to low-income schools in the rural Appalachian area. As I hold a degree in English, I focus on reading and writing - but like to teach writing the most. There's something about telling a good story that I've always found exciting. My teaching philosophy is simple: all human beings have a natural curiosity, a desire to learn. I simply look for the best way to unlock that curiosity in each student. I believe that a Teacher being passionate about a subject and instilling that same passion in their students, is what makes them both successful. I try to make each session as fun and exciting as possible for my students. I enjoy singing and am currently recording an album with a record label in Richmond, Va. I also write poetry and short fiction. I read an inordinate amount of books.
