About Me
Originally from Upstate New York, I have had a passion for the Chinese language since first traveling to China in 2006. I have studied Chinese at George Washington University in Washington DC, and at Peking University in Beijing. I have been living and working in China for the past several years, as a marketing director at a Beijing architecture company, and as a translator at China National Geographic. I am currently enrolled in a Chinese master's program at NYU.I understand that learning Chinese can be overwhelming and frustrating at times, especially when you're just starting out. But, I also understand how fun and deeply interesting it can be, once you are able to get beyond the barriers and start to reach fluency; which is a level that any learner can reach! It is also imperative to focus on both reading and speaking, as well as Chinese typing or writing. We can create a customized course to address your learning needs (I.E. heavier focus on reading, specific subject vocabulary, etc). Due to my professional experience in China, I would be happy to help with learning business Chinese. I am also excited to advise students on Chinese cultural/historical elements, and give advice about living, studying, working, or traveling in China. I hope I can have the opportunity to help you learn Chinese as I have! In terms of my hobbies and interests, I really enjoy history and international affairs. I also really like writing, traveling, and tea.
