About Me

I received my undergraduate degree from Vassar College in History with a minor in Education. I received my Master's degree from Fordham University in Adolescent Social Studies Education. I have worked in the New York school system for three years, both in the middle school and high school level. I have been tutoring since high school and particularly love tutoring students in Social Studies as well as Language Arts. I love tutoring Social Studies because when told, taught, and studied correctly, history can be the most thrilling story. I believe tutoring should be a rigorous but fun experience where both the tutor and student feel comfortable with each other. The first thing I do when I meet a new student is get to know their passions, interests, and experiences so I can make analogies to ideas and concepts they already know about. Part of prepping for standardized tests is feeling confident and building my students' confidence is something I constantly work towards. In my free time I am a sports maniac and play on multiple soccer teams. I love using athletics to describe key concepts such as comparing the Patriot's position during the Revolutionary War to home field advantage at a sporting event. When I am not on the field, I love to read historical fiction and political thrillers.
