Brittney Johnson is the CEO of Fervent Financial LLC whose passion is to teach, coach, and empower everyday people and children on personal finances to include: budgeting, how to save, how to get out of debt, and the importance of an emergency fund.Brittney believes that many people are ignorant to basic money management skills and therefore struggle and keep going around the hamster wheel making the same financial mistakes. Most students have some difficulty with timed writing tests as well as essay exams. However, there are strategies which can help.I have also taught Latin I, II, III and IV. I have four years of full-time classroom teaching experience, but many more as a tutor. I started tutoring when I was in the sixth grade, and I now work with students from grades six through college. I also teach SAT and ACT preparation courses. While my favorite subject to teach is Social Studies, my Math and English students have gone on to great success as well. I know that every student has a unique learning style and success is often a matter of finding the right motivation. When I'm not teaching, my favorite thing to do is read to my own children.

I graduated from Colorado College (top 25 LAC) in May of 2020 with a degree in Political Economy and a minor in Math, after attending on a full scholarship. I will be starting an MS in Data Science at Georgetown in the Fall. I've recently served as a high school fellowship coordinator on major political campaigns and before that served as a volunteer coordinator. I am very passionate about teaching math as it is something I struggled with before achieving a high level of mastery. But I am also quite capable at instructing in English, Government, Economics, and general writing. I would say I am the type of tutor who works through challenges with students instead of for them.

I have also worked as an art teacher through Explorations Summer Academy and taught 6th grade English at a summer school.My tutoring experience includes: tutoring African refugees living in Oregon, tutoring children in Ecuador, teaching preschool as an AmeriCorps member in a low-income community in California, and tutoring children living with their families in Bolivian prisons. Some fun facts about me are that I played varsity lacrosse in college and am highly proficient in Spanish. In my spare time, I paint murals and attend Zumba classes.

I am a recent graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy and am currently an undergraduate at the University of Chicago, where I am studying Economics. Since High School, I have been tutoring through school organizations like Peer Tutoring, where I became the head in my senior year, and also tutoring around public schools in Stamford, Connecticut, near where I live. I have also created a summer camp at Domus Stamford, where I taught Chemistry and Martial arts for two weeks to middle school and elementary school students. I have also coached my school's Chemistry Olympiad team, so I am comfortable with competition Chemistry as well. I have over three hundred hours of tutoring and teaching experience in subjects like Math, Chemistry, and English. Tutoring STEM subjects is always fun for my students and me, because it is always interesting to see the connections and logic behind concepts.
