The ACT Science section barely tests science knowledge — it's really about reading graphs, interpreting data tables, and comparing experimental designs under time pressure. Sophia scored a 36 composite by treating it exactly that way, and she teaches students to extract trends and relationships from figures before even glancing at the answer choices.

I am a chemistry/math tutor with hundreds of hours teaching both subjects. What separates me from other tutors is my fantastic attention to the learning styles of different students, and my ability to attune my teaching style to each individual student. I am a big believer in letting students utilize tutoring time in the way they believe best, and I try to make myself a resource more than an instructor, which reinforces good study habits as well as lets me help the student with subject material. I will be attending the University of Michigan to major in Mathematics in the Fall.
The ACT Science section is really a data interpretation test disguised as science, and Samantha approaches it that way. She teaches students to read graphs, compare experimental setups, and identify trends without getting lost in unfamiliar terminology. Her biology background at Michigan means she can also unpack the actual science when a passage requires deeper content knowledge.
I am a current sophomore at Yale University, studying Environmental Engineering and Global Affairs. I spent four years tutoring K-12 students in reading and math, and I believe in the importance of appreciating the process of learning and mastering concepts.
I am a learner for life and I love sharing my knowledge with others. I have tutored middle-school students for one year and university students for two years. My focus is mainly on mathematics, chemistry, and related fields. I have degrees in both mathematics and biomedical engineering so I cover a lot of ground in the physiological sciences, computer programming, and statistics as well. Taking tests is one of my strong points and I have some killer strategies to share!
I am a current undergraduate at the University of Michigan. I am a Biochemistry major and Philosophy minor, with years of experience tutoring students. Through high school, I tutored kids in the ACT, math, science, literature, and debate. My favorite subject to tutor is Chemistry, as I have taken Chemistry Honors, AP Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry(1 and 2). I believe that tutoring is a two way street, with the student learning about the material, but the teacher learning about how the student interacts with the material. Due to this, I am a very hands-on tutor who is always available for a text/call outside of class. Outside of academia, I am a singer and have been for 13 years now - a choir singer for 7 years and now in a premier acapella group at the University of Michigan.
The ACT Science section is really a data interpretation exam disguised as science — success depends on reading graphs, comparing experimental setups, and drawing conclusions fast. Vikhyathi scored a 35 composite and, as a neuroscience major constantly analyzing research data, she teaches students to extract exactly what each question asks from dense figures and tables without getting lost in scientific jargon.
I am currently a student at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. I am working on my third year in the Bachelors of Business Administration program. Throughout my time in both college and high school I have experienced the frustration and pains of students, whether it be myself or my friends. I have always helped my friends with the subjects they struggled with (Calculus, ACT science, Economics, etc.) because I want to see them succeed. I decided to become a tutor to help others succeed as well. I teach ACT, SAT, Statistics, Economics, Business, Math, English, Environment Science, Reading, Writing, and Essay Editing. I especially enjoy teaching Essay Editing, Reading, and Writing because there is more flexibility and opportunity to add your own style into these subjects. Outside of school I enjoy playing tennis, working out, DJing and cooking.
I am an artist and journalist from Ann Arbor, MI attending Harvard College in Cambridge, MA. I'm excited to work with students in my area and online.
Scoring well on ACT Science has less to do with knowing biology or chemistry and more to do with reading graphs, interpreting data tables, and spotting trends under time pressure. Alexandra treats it as a data literacy exercise, teaching students to extract the right information fast without getting lost in unfamiliar terminology. Her 33 ACT composite and 5.0 rating speak to how well that approach works.
The ACT Science section looks intimidating, but it's really about reading graphs, interpreting data tables, and following experimental setups — skills Alec uses every week in his Michigan engineering labs. He strips away the scientific jargon and shows students how to extract answers directly from the figures, which is where nearly every question lives.
