I am a certified teacher of both math and Chinese. I have taught everything from elementary to high school math, and from beginning to AP Mandarin Chinese. I have been teaching in public schools for more than ten years, so I know what students struggle with and where some of their biggest academic hurdles can be found. I am here to help! I like to break down knowledge and information into easy steps, in order to make it easier for students to solve their problems. With over a decade of experience as a student and a personal understanding of learning challenges, I'm passionate about helping students succeed on their own terms. As someone with ADHD, I understand firsthand how to navigate the complexities of focus and time management, and I incorporate strategies that work for neurodivergent learners. This experience allows me to connect with students who face similar challenges, providing them with practical tools and encouragement to excel. I earned my Juris Doctor and LL.M in Entertainment, Art, and Sports Law from the University of Miami School of Law, and my Bachelor's degree in Human and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University. While I tutor a variety of subjects, I specialize in English, History, and Law, and I particularly enjoy helping students sharpen their writing and critical thinking skills.

I am fortunate; I get to do the best job in the world. While teaching is my second career, it was always what I wanted to do. When I graduated from college, I was offered a position with my college's admissions and marketing office, where I had been working to put myself through school. It was a tremendous opportunity, and launched an eighteen-year career helping high school students make important decisions about their futures, and navigate an often complex admissions and financial aid system. I loved working with students, being around bright, engaging people, and doing work that made a difference. But each time I walked through a high school to present a workshop on writing college essays or preparing for college interviews, I was reminded of how deeply I still wanted to be in a classroom. So I took the plunge, and now spend my days teaching social studies to great students at a great school. I have taught world history, American history, sociology, psychology, economics, and even developed a high school course in teaching for students seeking a career in education. I am passionate about understanding how the past has shaped the present, and helping students recognize their critical role in protecting and preserving democracy. In addition to teaching course curricula, I work with students on writing skills, standardized test preparation, and college essays, because all of these skills will help them reach their academic goals. As a teacher, I believe that it is critical to help students develop the ability to regulate their own learning, and implement meta-cognitive strategies that will serve them in college and beyond. When I'm not teaching, I am a mom to a high school sophomore, a long-distance mom to two college students, a gardener who grows lots of organic vegetables, and an avid reader of anything historical. I'm currently a senior at the University of Michigan pursuing a dual degree in Computer Science and Business. I've been tutoring for 7+ years now, and I love making an impact in my students' lives! Hello! My name is Aleks and I am a MSEd student at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. I am originally from the Northwest side of Chicago, and grew up attending public schools and Polish Catholic school on the weekends. I graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and a Minor in European Studies and am very interested in international relations, research, and education policy. Most of my experience stems from mentorship and teaching roles in formal and informal learning spaces, providing college access, reading, math, and writing support to students K-12 as well as adult learners. As a student teacher, I am constantly exploring new teaching strategies and have particularly found a lot of joy working with bilingual and multilingual learners! My background as a native Polish speaker and first generation student has informed my path to supporting learners in building confidence in their rich linguistic repertoires.

My goal as a tutor is to help a student assess their strengths, identify their areas of need, formulate a plan to address these areas and assist them in achieving mastery in their desired subject. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Master's degree in Counseling from the University of Memphis, Tennessee. I have been working in education for over 15 years. In addition, I have spent over 2 years teaching English as a Second Language online. I have also spent time tutoring students in English and Math, as well as helping to prepare for Standardized Tests, such as the Graduate Exit Exam and the ACT.

I'm a Mechanical Engineering student at Rochester Institute of Technology with a strong background in science and math. I would love to tutor these subjects, especially algebra, calculus, and physics, but I would also enjoy tutoring SAT Reading or even guitar. I am passionate about working with my students and seeing them succeed.

I have always been a highly ambitious student and strive to learn in everything I do. In high school I became enthralled with my ACT exams, embracing the challenge and being reinvigorated with each improvement I could make; over the course of a year, I self-studied from a 21 to a 34 and even had fun doing it! With that score I was able to attend Columbia University where I received two BAs: one in Archaeology and the other in Classics with a focus on Latin. In each step of my educational journey, I have been interested in accessibility and have been passionate about spreading information as widely as I can. I am now pursuing an MA at Columbia's Teacher's College in Anthropology and Education, specializing in the experiences of Neurodivergent learners.

I am a current student at Northeastern University pursuing a combined major in Biology and Computer Science. I am fascinated by mathematics, computer science, biology, and the intersection between the three.
