I have been a tutor for 9 years, specializing in test prep and admissions tests. I also work with students on admissions essays and general homework help. I come from a suburban town near Houston, Texas, where I attended an international studies high school and gained tutoring experience through working and volunteering. I have worked as an assistant teacher for ESL (English as a Second Language) and volunteered as a tutor in both regular and AP subjects throughout my high school years. I have a BA in International Studies, with a minor in Business Administration and a certificate in Community Based Participatory Research. I am very interested in education, and I have spent lots of time studying different education systems and teaching methods. I believe that every single student has a unique way of learning and processing information, so it is important for them to develop their own studying habits and learning methods. I am studying Spanish in Mexico after two years teaching English in Guadeloupe, France to sharpen my foreign language skills and ESL teaching capabilities in preparation for multilingual and multicultural educational spaces. Upon my return to the United States, I will pursue my teaching license in secondary history. Thus, I am passionate about teaching History, English, and French. I also excel at teaching and academic writing. In addition to my experience guiding students in traditional classrooms, I have taught yoga for the past two years. This has involved planning classes for large groups in addition to providing personal assists to students throughout their practice. With my experience teaching others in both the traditional academic classroom and the nontraditional yoga classroom, I have learned there is no better way to assist others in their growth than meeting individuals exactly where they are. As a result, my teaching and tutoring styles are designed to capitalize upon what students already know so that they may build upon said knowledge and achieve more. Further, my teaching and tutoring are based on our humanity as people and thus there is plenty of conversation, inquiry, and room for mistakes. I am currently a student at Rice University studying both History and Neuroscience. Being the oldest of five kids, working with younger students has always been a part of my life. While obtaining my undergraduate education, I volunteered with the Family Tree Child Development Center, where I enjoyed reading to the children and working with the teachers. I also volunteered in the Mother Baby Unit, helping the nurses and new moms! Upon completing my Biology degree, I interned at a hospital in the Microbiology lab. My classroom experience includes elementary substitute teaching and being an Instructional Assistant. I've worked with children who are advanced or struggling in small groups to reach academic standards. Following IEPs, and working with teachers, staff and parents to help students achieve goals, have been the most motivating to me.

I am a middle grades language arts and reading teacher with twenty-six years of experience. I have a bachelors degree in English and a master's in education. I love teaching reading.

I am a certified teacher of both math and Chinese. I have taught everything from elementary to high school math, and from beginning to AP Mandarin Chinese. I have been teaching in public schools for more than ten years, so I know what students struggle with and where some of their biggest academic hurdles can be found. I am here to help!
