It is such a shame that others don't find enjoyment in so many things, because they're written off as "too difficult", when in reality, they're not so bad. The reason I became a tutor is to help those people who think they'll be bad at things, just because they think it will be hard.I really want to help people learn and understand what is going on in their classes and lessons, so that they can experience what something better. These subjects can be great if you have someone willing to sit down, one-on-one, and really work with you to find that block or show you how to study. Sometimes, it's something as simple as having it explained in a simpler way. Simply learning how to wade through a professors jargon can do wonders for a student. In the end, the goal of my tutoring is to provide outstanding service, but most importantly, I want students to leave my lessons feeling excited and encouraged to learn more, willing to push themselves harder. I want people to learn how they can do better just by believing in themselves a little bit more.

I am a current student attending graduate school at Columbia University. I graduated from Yale University in 2011 and upon graduation, joined Teach for America, a non-profit organization whose mission is is to help close the current opportunity gap that exists in classrooms across the U.S. I taught 1st 2nd and 3rd grade for three years and while teaching, earned a Master's Degree in Education. In addition to being a classroom certified teacher, I have also tutored older students in SAT test preparation, as well as classroom content such as calculus and physics. I tutor a wide range of subjects, ranging from elementary education to high school Mathematics, science and Spanish. I enjoy teaching and my work is about my students, who have the potential to achieve at the highest levels, and their parents, who want the best for them. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, watching/playing sports (especially basketball, which I played in college!), skiing, and knitting.

I have always been an excellent student from High School to College, and I sure have been asked many times to provide tutoring in academic settings. I have always been involved in helping others on the path of education, whether friends , relatives or others unbeknownst to be me personally. That I had done before I ever provided tutoring in exchange for compensation for the first time in response to a parent who had approached me with a failing son in English. Now of course I have tutored my son and daughter thru high school and coached them for the SAT tests. They went on to earn one a BS in Computer Science and the other an MBA at prestigious schools. Here I specialize in math, science, Spanish and French. I will cover all math topics up to pre-calculus. I hold French Baccalaureates I and II. I hold a professorial certification for Spanish as a Second Language. I have taught English as a Second Language for 2 years. I am fluent in English, Spanish and French, and have published both in French and English. As an Engineering student, I became a lifetime member of PHI THETA KAPPA, attesting to my academic excellence in education at the 2-year college level. I had also been nominated to the National Deans' list several times.I prefer to focus my tutoring directly on the problem areas for students, and give direct help with homeworks. I evaluate with grade improvement. I will prepare students for specific tests as well by following preparation methodology outlined in a prep book.At the moment I am available for tutoring from 1:00PM to 8:00PM. I can travel to students’ residence or meet them online.

Both my parents are retired teachers which made education a very highly valued subject in our home when I was growing up. We were encouraged not only to learn in school but to appreciate opportunities to learn and be curious in all daily activities. During my undergraduate years at Miami University where I achieved a Bachelor's Degree in Science as well as my time in medical school at Rush University Medical College where I will soon receive my Doctorate of Medicine, I have tutored fellow students as a way to help out as well as a way for me to stay sharp with tricky subjects. I believe that teaching is the best way to reinforce knowledge and master material. We all learn in different ways and I think that identifying our strengths and weaknesses as learners can help us succeed as well as know when to ask for help. Certain subjects and the methods by which they are delivered may not fit the learning style that best serves you - this is where I feel tutors can provide assistance in order to keep up your confidence and progress. I greatly enjoy teaching and tutoring in the biological and physical sciences, many levels of math, and Spanish. Also,I have taken many standardized examinations on my way to medical school and tutor in ACT, GRE and MCAT test preparation. When not tutoring, I enjoy cooking, listening to and playing music, playing soccer and basketball and spending time with my 4-year-old daughter.Learning and education are lifelong endeavors, let me help you when you need a little help or are completely lost on certain subjects. Regardless of your needs, I'll be happy to figure out your learning style as well as to listen to your goals and help you to achieve and surpass them.Take care!

I have been lucky enough to have been taught by some truly inspirational teachers and am well aware of the effect they have had on my life and the choices I have made subsequently. My own passion for teaching extends from the desire to emulate these role models and perform the same inspirational function in the lives of my students. As a keen student of foreign languages like English, French or German, I am also passionate about teaching languages. In my opinion, languages open the door to exciting opportunities in life.Studying and working in education has shown me that it is a challenging and, at the same time, rewarding career.
