I am a Freshman of the Class of 2024 in the University of Texas at Dallas; my major is Computer Science. Back when I was in high school in Vietnam, which is a long time ago (at least 5 years), I stood out amongst my friends with the ability to perform really well in science subjects like Math, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. I always love learning new things and have a passion for academic stuff. One of my proudest achievements back then was earning the highest score amongst high school seniors in my state in the annual national final exam of 2015, an equivalent to the SAT. Afterwards, I spent nearly 4 years in college as a medical student but had to quit my studying to immigrate to the US. Though I am a little bit old to start college again, I do not really deem this as a disadvantage. In fact, my past experience would be really helpful to guide me through tough times in college. I am so excited and thankful that I have a chance to pursue my passion in one of the best education systems in the world.

Scoring a 1400 on the SAT means Arlin already knows the testing landscape the PSAT is built on — same question styles, same traps in Evidence-Based Reading, same algebra and data-analysis patterns in the math sections. He breaks the PSAT into repeatable strategies for eliminating answer choices and managing time across shorter passages, so students build the habits that pay off again when SAT day arrives. Rated 4.8 by students.
I'm a full-time high school math teacher who teaches juniors and seniors. This is my 5th year teaching. I'm looking to tutor after-school and on the weekends. I attended the University of Texas, majored in Mathematics, and graduated in 2011. During my time in Austin, I tutored part-time while going to school.
John's English and Drama training sharpened the close-reading and rhetorical analysis skills that the PSAT's Evidence-Based Reading section rewards — identifying how authors structure arguments, use tone shifts, and deploy evidence across paired passages. His 36 ACT and experience teaching both SAT Math and SAT Reading mean he tackles the full exam, including the algebra-heavy no-calculator section where students often stumble on multi-step word problems. I am proud to be a part of Varsity Tutors! I am originally from San Antonio, TX; I completed my undergraduate education at Rice University in Houston where I received a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Currently, I am in my second year of medical school at Baylor College of Medicine.
I am working toward an MD at Stanford University. I am happy to help with MCAT, SAT, SAT subject, AP test prep, and general academic subjects. Throughout my 8 years of experiencing tutoring middle school and high school students, I aim to help students raise their test scores through targeting points of weakness and developing the tools to conquer those areas. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy running, listening to music, traveling, and reading.
Comparative Literature trained Chloe to do one thing relentlessly — read closely and argue precisely about what a text is actually doing — which is the entire game on the PSAT's Evidence-Based Reading and Writing sections. Her 1540 SAT means she's already navigated the test the PSAT is modeled on, and her linguistics minor gives her a structural grip on the grammar-in-context questions that most students try to solve by ear. Rated 5.0 by students.
I am continuing my education with a Master's in the same field. For years, I've helped my friends and siblings with homework for school, and they've always told me that I had a talent for teaching; I understand concepts very easily, and explanations come easy as well. The goal that I work towards for my students is to bless them holistically, both through my academic skills and through any relationship that I am able to build with them. I believe in teaching my key patterns of thinking; teach them how to fish instead of giving them a fish, as it is said. I am best at Math and Science, and any of the high-school level subjects pertaining to those fields.
I am currently a Master's student at Cornell University. I graduated with my Bachelor's of Science from Cornell in 2016 and I plan to attend medical school in the fall of 2017. I am really excited to be tutoring for Varsity tutors because I really enjoy helping students with subjects that gave me trouble in school. I hope that my time spent developing strategies to learn and absorb the tough material can help you succeed.
I'm Eisha, a Public Health major at the University of Texas at Austin with an interest in medicine and teaching.
Rakhi's applied math degree means the PSAT's quantitative sections — Heart of Algebra, Passport to Advanced Math, and the data-analysis questions that require interpreting tables without a calculator — play directly to her training. But she also covers the Writing and Language section, where her 1550 SAT experience translates into teaching students how to spot punctuation and transition errors in context rather than relying on ear alone. Rated 4.8 by students.
I am a prematriculant student at the University of Chicago. In high school I took advanced STEM courses at the University of North Texas through a high school program called the Texas Academy of Math and Science. I love taking high level math courses, but I get even more excited when I can help friends and classmates in courses I have already taken. I believe that having a solid understanding of math concepts builds you up for success in any field. I have experience as a teaching assistant in pre-calculus and calculus and have experience tutoring and assisting students in high school math, calculus, and differential equations. When preparing students for standardized tests like the ACT and SAT, I focus on filling any gaps in material and teaching new techniques for making the test easier and quicker to take. I have used and perfected these techniques while taking the ACT and SAT myself and have had success on both tests. I am also a National Merit Finalist.
