How can a Latin tutor help you?

Latin is a dead language, but it continues to have many applications in our modern world. Learning the language can help you in many different scenarios, from preparing you for a career in the field of medicine to introducing you to a wider view of history. Latin is taught in many countries throughout the world for the important reason that it has roots in many countries' histories. However, the benefits of Latin are not to be outweighed by the difficulty of the language. The ancient tongue has many rules and is known for its complexity. If you wish to really master the language, then it would be a good idea to work with a tutor. Varsity Tutors can help you find Latin tutoring in Atlanta, GA, that can help guide you in learning the language.

Learning a language in school is difficult because you can't always get immediate feedback or help on the areas you are having a hard time with. That is one of the greatest benefits of having a personal tutor. Learning Latin could be a much simpler process with the help of a tutor that is an expert in the subject. Not only could you have the tutor's undivided attention, but we can help you find a tutor that has a love for Latin and may be excited to share the language with you. Latin has many beautiful literature pieces that your tutor may teach you from. The complex rules of the language also help create pleasant phrasing. Learning to read such passages with an Atlanta Latin tutor who enjoys the texts could make your own learning experience more enjoyable.

The student and I went over his most recent test, focusing on where he struggled most with making his own Latin constructions with given nouns and cases (ex: make a sentence including the word "heart" in the accusative singular case).  As we practiced these exercises in English, he became much more comfortable with moving around nouns within a sentence.  We also reviewed his material for his science test coming up.

Today we worked on a couple of Latin translation passages for class this week. The student's class has now gotten to the part of the textbook with adapted passages from Caesar's Gallic War, so some of the constructions are a bit tricky and there are many parallel clauses to deal with. The student did pretty well at this, and has been doing some work on his own with studying vocabulary, which helped. After we finished the reading assignment for, we started in on the passage for this week, which we did not quite get through before time ran out. We did a brief review of the gerundive when the student didn't recognize one, and talked about several kinds of clauses that took him a little while to identify, such as a relative clause and an indirect command.
