Certified Tutor

I am currently a pre-med student majoring in biology, and I am also preparing for the MCAT, which has given me the opportunity to review biology at a very advanced and detailed level. My coursework has provided me with a strong foundation in topics such as cell biology, genetics, physiology, and evolution, and my ongoing MCAT preparation has sharpened my ability to explain these concepts step by step. Because of this academic background, I feel confident helping students at both the high school and introductory college level build a deeper understanding of biology.
My teaching experience began in high school, where I worked as a swim instructor for children and teenagers. In that role, I learned the importance of patience, clear communication, and breaking down skills into smaller, manageable steps. Later, I served as a mentor for high school students during a camp at Northwestern University. There, I guided students through science-related questions, supported their academic curiosity, and encouraged them to think critically about what they were learning. These experiences showed me how much I enjoy teaching and how rewarding it is to watch students gain confidence.
As a tutor, my approach is interactive and student-centered. I like to start with the big picture, then break complex topics into smaller, more approachable ideas, checking in frequently to make sure the student is following along. I also incorporate real-world examples to make concepts more memorable. My experience ranges from working one-on-one with students to small group mentoring, and I have worked with learners from middle school through high school. What makes me effective is not only my strong academic background, but also my ability to connect with students, explain concepts clearly, and adapt my teaching style to fit their needs.
