Hello and thank you for taking a look at my educator profile here on Varsity Tutors. I am an Ivy league educated environmental scientist and U.S. military spouse who has many years of experience teaching and building connections with students around the world. Not only do I teach in the fields of environmental science and zoology but I am certified in and skillfully experienced in teaching students in dozens of other fields of study as well. My teaching style involves highly customizing my work with each student to meet their individual goals and needs. I am patient and nurturing but also skilled at appropriately challenging each student. I aim to properly support and inspire every student no matter their passions, needs and interest levels. Relationship building and individualized supports are key to my teaching and tutoring practices.
Currently, I am certified in three different U.S. states but am also capable of working with students from around the world. I am multilingual and have fluency in English, Italian, Spanish, German and Portuguese (with native fluency in English and Italian). My certification areas provide me with the skills to work with early childhood students all the way through adult learners and my skills cover various subjects related (but not limited to) special education, English language arts, English language support, Italian language, culture, history and beyond, drama, orchestral music, choir, multiple sciences and maths, histories, geography, AP classes, test preparation, culinary arts, psychology, sociology, criminology and justice, technical and scientific writing, political science, communications, etc. I am also fully capable of and interested in crafting plans to help students interested in extracurricular subject and activity preparation and so much more. Additionally, my skills include working with students and families who have faced trauma, grief, medical crises and loss, are part of the adoption community and students who are or who have received foster care supports. Outside of academia, I am passionate about foster care and child welfare system reform, animal welfare, community volunteer work, battling food insecurity and other areas that work on creating and nurturing a better, more equitable, safer, kinder and more compassionate world for us all to share. Personal passions also include travel, culinary arts, veganism, gardening, board games, reading, media production, writing, genealogy, music, theater, playing my cello, and, most deeply rooted in my heart, spending time and exploring life with my family- pets included.
