Certified Tutor
I've been a public servant all my life. The bulk of my experience lies with children, teaching, and tutoring. The other half consist of hospitality services and legal service; either way connecting with people and helping others be comfortable in life has always been my Niche. I have a 7+ year history teaching different ages from high school to elementary, even college students that were my peers at the time. Of course with my Bachelors in History and Psychology, I have a strong writing and social science background. I recently graduated from UIC Law with my JD. Overall, my writing, grammar, research, and Math skills have been well polished by the best educators and years of Lead Teaching my own classroom. My teaching style focuses on teacher and student set learning goals and corresponding grade standards. Ive learned small groups work best with a good range of skill level in the group; while still keeping students near their group level. Students learn from seeing others who've mastered it and helping others to Master it. I love to integrate learning with student hobbies and interests and even bring my own interest such as law, astrology, nature, music, and, even incorporating games. I do believe in reward based learning not punishment based learning. In other words, result-based evaluations and student self-evaluations are all a student needs to be motivated to do better, and obviously not receiving the reward is punishment enough. My biggest tool in the classroom is affirmation I've come to understand confidence is key to success and performance. Unfortunately, many children have not had confidence built in them to express what they know or courage to work on their weaknesses. Self-belief and self-admiration, my experience has taught me, solves; imposter syndrome, procrastination, and growth stagnation. Thats what I am here for, teachers are confidence builders! Let's do this together! See you in class.
