Gain confidence in your speaking, reading, and writing skills by working with a patient and supportive Spanish tutor!
Are you taking Spanish for a language requirement and need some support you can count on to help you succeed?
Do you think you'd be even better at your job if you could improve your Spanish?
Or maybe you're going on vacation and want to practice some essential Spanish that will help you enjoy your trip?
Whatever the reason may be, I'm here to help!
My name is Enrique, and besides growing up with Colombian parents who spoke to me both in English and Spanish, I studied theatre arts in college. But whereas most of my classmates were studying theatre so they could be on stage belting showtunes, I was the nerd who focused my studies on comparative Latin American and US latino drama.
All that's to say I had to read a lot of Spanish. I had to write a lot of Spanish. And I've been fortunate enough in my artistic life to work with a number of playwrights across Latin America translating their plays from Spanish to English, so yeah, I've had to speak a lot of Spanish, too.
And not just for my theatre work, no.
I've been fortunate enough to not only travel around Latin America, but to have lived in Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Argentina, and Uruguay. I know what it's like to hail cabs, go grocery shopping, chat with neighbors, and navigate medical bureaucracy in Spanish.
So, yeah, I can help you practice conjugating verbs and learn strategies to help cement the formal Spanish grammar rules in your mind. But I'm also going to challenge you to speak as much as possible because that's actually the fastest way to learn.
I'm going to be there to cheer you on when you rock it out!
And I'm also going to be there to tell you that you're going to mess up along the wayand that's ok! I don't know who out there needs to hear this, but getting things wrong is part of how we learn, so don't beat yourself up over it. I'm not going to.
I want to be the supportive presence you need to practice your Spanish without judgment and build your confidence. So if you're looking for someone friendly, patient, and supportive to guide you through your learning, go ahead and book a session with me and see what you think.
I hope to get the chance to work with you!

Aside from tutoring, I work as a freelance copywriter, content writer, and technical writer for a variety of different biotech/science oriented businesses. When I’m not working, I spend my time writing plays, screenplays, fiction, and non-fiction. I love to read literary fiction (both English and Spanish), science fiction, fantasy, and non-fiction (lots of politics, history, and science). And when my brain needs a break, I like to stream tv shows/movies and play video games. I also love cooking and watching cooking competitions (Top Chef, Tournament of Champions, and MasterChef are my comfort tv). I’m a bit obsessed with food and literally have a spreadsheet to keep track of all the restaurants in different cities and countries that I want to visit.
