Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Brigham Young University where I received a Bachelor in History with of focus on Chinese history. I also received a minor in Chinese and Asian Studies, and I am passionate about developing language skills in a way that expands one's horizons and blends with all other aspects of education. While a student, I worked in the Mandarin department of the Missionary Training Center in Provo as a classroom teacher and as a tutor. I also worked as a tutor in the BYU Research and Writing Center where I helped students develop their writing ability. I enjoy tutoring in a wide variety of topics and am most passionate about Mandarin, History, and Writing. I've learned that whatever the topic, each student has a unique mind that is capable of understanding in different ways; it is important to me to understand the mind of each person I tutor and use a unique approach to help them learn in a way that suits them the best. I also believe that learning even the most difficult things, such as Mandarin Chinese, can be a fun and engaging experience at every step of the process. In my free time, I love going to concerts, skateboarding, and cooking (I've spent countless hours learning to dish up a mean gumbo).
