I have been an Counselor in education since July of 2000, and within this time I have taught students of all ages from grades 4K-post High School. I think it's also valuable for me to disclose that I am a neurodiverse learner, in that I have ADHD. As such, I have valuable life experience and understanding of how to accommodate students who also may be neurodiverse thinkers. Learning techniques that I use to work with myself and others are invaluable when working with Neurotypical students as well, and I feel are a true asset to me as I as strive to be an effective educator. I am a graduate of UW Green Bay where I received my Bachelors of Arts in English/Creative Writing, and I am a graduate of UW Platteville where I received my Master's of Science in Counselor Education. I am also an LPC-IT and enjoyed a year and a half recently as a clinical therapist. I chose to come back to schools, as I feel more directly involved in the lives of the people I work with and can have active positive change on a daily basis. I have traveled extensively, having planned trips abroad for students and families during my first 15 years in education. I will be taking my first trip since having children, in the Spring of 2023, when I travel to France with my son on an educational tour. I am most passionate about Character Education and Social Emotional Learning. There is no question that learning happens best when people have more emotional balance and support. I also assist with Study Skills, Academic Coaching, Mentoring, English, Literature, Test Prep, Civics, Psychology, and History. In my experience helping struggling students prepare for Standardized Tests, we experience the most effectiveness with students by helping them learn the test techniques and helping students navigate the test strategies, and then we focus on the content. I am not boring... and keep students on their toes with my energy and use of time. In my spare time I enjoy adventures with my family, riding my Harley, watching my children participate in Football and Soccer, and just being outdoors in general.
