Certified Tutor

I graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University with my Bachelor's in Secondary Education English, and I also have my certification in ELA/ESL in Arizona and North Carolina.

I have been a teacher for 12 years, and I have taught all grades from 6-12. These ELA classes ranged in varying degrees of academic levels: I have taught EC, ELL, remediation, standard, Honors, SAT Prep, and Advanced Placement classes.

In addition to teaching, I also have experience with curriculum coaching: conducting teacher observations, assisting and mentoring new teachers, developing curriculum, facilitating professional development seminars on research-based teaching strategies, and how to effectively utilize data to drive instruction in PLCs. Furthermore, I have been a private tutor for eight years, in which I have tutored middle and high-school English, math, science, social studies, ACT Preparation, SAT preparation, and standardized-test preparation.

Over the last 12 years of teaching, I have acquired exemplary communication and leadership skills with students, parents, staff, and administration. I believe that this type of effective communication is essential to meaningful team collaboration in order to maximize the effective instruction, engagement and learning for the students.

My pedagogy as a teacher is to deliver instruction and facilitate learning by creating engaging lessons without conceding rigor and student accountability. My passion for teaching is reflected through my unwavering optimism, positive attitude, and genuine interest for the content in and out of the classroom. Building relationships is essential to the students' learning; thus, I incorporate and employ strategies everyday to maintain an environment of mutual respect and integrity.

I believe that every student is capable of success-- I call my students to excellence, give them resources, accept no excuses, and celebrate with them when they rise to the occasion.

I am a teacher who will instruct, engage, correct, and evaluate my students without sacrificing warmth and approachability. My constant energy and sunny disposition create a lively atmosphere in the traditional classroom as well as the virtual ones, even when tackling the more tedious aspects of the content.
