I am an extremely passionate and experienced educator. A strong and motivated student in high school, my fervor for education followed me into my career. I have worked in education for over 8 years, including roles as both a classroom teacher and a school administrator. My career began in DC shortly after I finished my BA in philosophy and criminal Justice from American University. I joined Teach for America and taught all subjects with special education students in middle school and high school. My role was to work inside their mainstream classrooms to ensure they could access the content and provide support when they could not. My teaching strengths are in writing, English, math (algebra and geometry specifically), but I am also familiar with middle school and 9th/10th grade sciences and social studies. I moved out of the classroom to run the special education department at an elementary/middle school after completing my M.Ed in Special Education from George Mason University. I eventually moved to California to become a Dean of Instruction and Culture at a high school in San Jose. I am relocating to Miami and am excited to still continue to work with students.
I have spent my entire career working with at-risk youth and motivating many struggling students to achieve in school and grow as people. I am very talented in building trusting relationships with students and encouraging them to take academic risks. Students are often comfortable with me to ask for support and work towards their goals. I love to use humor and my bubbly personality to connect with students and get them excited to learn. I am so excited to meet more students and help more youths meet their goals.
