I have a strong enthusiasm for math and teaching math. Math for me is a beautiful subject that combines logic and creativity and allows us to see and understand the world in unique ways. However, I also understand that not everyone sees math as I do and know that math can intimidate even the best of students. My teaching philosophy centers around building a student's confidence in their own learning abilities (particularly if they have math anxiety) and helping a student develop the language of math. My goal is not for students to just find an answer; my goal is for them to be able to explain how they reached their answer, which is in itself a much more powerful ability. Additionally, being able to explain a mathematical process goes hand in hand with understanding the math itself.
