I'm a current student at Allegheny College in Pennsylvania, where I am studying Communication Arts, Journalism and Dance. I have an extensive background in humanities subjects in general, as well as experience in mathematics (ranging from elementary to Algebra 2), and science (ranging from elementary to AP Environmental Science).

My teaching interests are wide-ranging, including film editing, reading, writing, languages, algebra, music, and public speaking. I have worked as an editor in both a written and visual film format, so I am skilled at working with students on creative writing skills, essay composition and revision, editing, and camera operation. I also have proficiency in German due to a year I spent studying abroad in Germany in high school.

Growing up in Hawaii, I learned a lot about diversity and how no one is the same. While this mostly applied to race, it also allowed me to see education in a new light. There's no one, right way to learn, and there are as many strategies as there are people in the world and I am comfortable working with students with complex needs in order to find innovative learning tools for success. For instance, I am a bodily-kinesthetic (aka physical) learner, which means that I learn by doing. I have to write the problem down or I have to build the model; I can't just listen or watch someone else do it. But someone who is visual learner, watching is just what they need to do. In my tutoring, I like to encourage students to use whatever methods grant them success and I like to help them find that method as soon as possible so they can get the most out of their education.
