Certified Tutor

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to check out my tutoring profile at Varsity Tutors. My name is Cory. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have been a tutor for over 15 years. I started tutoring my high school classmates in subjects such as Calculus, Algebra, and Spanish. I continued to tutor when I was in college. I have also been offering online tutoring for a couple of years now. Online tutoring is probably my favorite way to tutor because it allows me to be more available to you, and I can utilize online tools to make your session with me even better. If you are somebody who prefers in-person lessons, I am still very happy to do that as well. Do you learn a specific way? No problem! My background in nursing and psychology has prepared me to work with many different learning styles. Aside from tutoring, I am a Registered Nurse and work at the NIH as a Clinical Informaticist. I hold a Master of Science in Nursing Informatics from Walden University. I was the valedictorian of my high school graduating class. I graduated summa cum laude from Ivy Tech Community College with an Associate of Science in Nursing and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University with a 4.0 GPA in my program. I love learning and sharing that passion with others. I have been fortunate to be a well-rounded student, and I attribute that to my parents who gave me many opportunities to challenge myself. Some of my favorite subjects include Algebra, Geometry, Spanish, English, Reading, Writing, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, and Information Technology. I am also experienced in test prep including SAT, ACT, NCLEX, TEAS, and many more. My students have seen significant improvements and have gone on to achieve their goals. For example, I helped one person prepare for a Nursing School entrance exam called the TEAS exam. She wasn't sure if her GPA would be good enough so she wanted to do well on the TEAS. After about 6 weeks of lessons covering the subject areas in depth, she took the test. Her score was competitive and it enabled her to get into nursing school from which she graduated 2 years later. She was so pleased with my lessons that she hired me to help her prepare for her next exam, the NCLEX-RN. It's a tough test that is required to become licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse. The best way to approach it is with test-taking strategies, so I taught her several strategies that helped me to pass the test. She is now working as an RN in the NICU at a hospital. It makes me so proud when I hear that my students achieve their goals. Please send me a message to set up an appointment or talk about the details. I look forward to hearing from you. Let's learn something together!
