I am interested in becoming a teacher and tutoring is the way to get experience teaching. I have a good deal of experience in math and science, but these subjects did not always come easy to me (I was definitely not a natural). I believe that I can relate to someone learning these subjects better than others who have taken as much of them as me, as I really had to concentrate on getting them down and develop approaches to learning. I would like to use these approaches to help others learn.
UPDATE: I just took the physics GRE (Sep 2021), so am very up-to-speed on anything physics related.
Also on the process of "gaming" tests for which material is available.

What is your teaching philosophy?
There are often many ways to think about a certain subject - find the way that works best for whoever you are teaching, and then teach.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Discover their interests, and try and see if I can relate that to the subject material. Chances are there will be a connection.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Get them interested in the subject so they can have intrinsic motivation.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Once again, give them reason to be intrinsically motivated. Also, encourage them. Grades and stress can be a powerful motivator, but they can also be a de-motivator. I would like the student interested in learning for the sake of being more knowledgeable.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would try and find out the best way that they like to learn, and also see if I can get them more interested in the subject so it is easier for them to put in the work that is needed when it doesn't come easily.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
This is not something I know much about teaching, but perhaps provide encouragement and some help (but not too much). Maybe 80/20 encouragement/help
